Contribution made by
volunteers
FEW have many volunteers who help with loading the containers
we send, collecting and organising the furniture in the warehouse,
travelling to the countries we donate equipment to and raising
funds for our work.
Achievements and
Performance
.
The charity's operations, like everyone else suffered enormous
restrictions to its operations due to the Covid Pandemic. As a
consequence, only 4 containers were loaded and shipped. Two of
the containers were in partnership with a Ghana based charity who
paid all shipping costs. FEW Charity only funded the collection and
loading costs. These containers were loaded on the sites of the
donating schools at Batley and Boston Spa.
The other two containers were funded substantially by FEW with
contributions from Unison, West Yorkshire and Humberside
Division.
The Charity also experienced restricted storage capabilities, which
meant collections were both more targeted and reduced.
In this period there were only 16 collection days.
In September we made funding available to refurbish a classroom
at Bijilo Nursery and in October set up an appeal to construct a
staff room at Bijilo Nursery to serve as a memorial to a close friend
of the charity. Work on the latter started in January and was
completed in 4 weeks.
Brock Homes of Blackpool agreed to fund a solar powered
borehole in the village of Kansambou in The Gambia, which was
completed by the 19/01/2022.
At the end of January 2022 funds were raised to construct a new
roof to a family home in The Gambia, which was completed by the
06/03/2022.
On the 07/04 2022 funding to purchase new wire fencing to Bijilo
Nursery playground was agreed bytrustees.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 5[th] April 2022 which are set out on pages 6 to 8.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; 2. the accounts do not accord with those records;

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
