| Achievements and Performance . |
Over the year the charity shipped a total of 5 containers. Three containers were shipped to The Gambia in West Africa, one if which was a joint venture with Unison, West Yorkshire, and Humberside. Two containers were shipped to Ghana in partnership with the Michael Lapsley Foundation, a charity registered in Ghana. In recognition of the effects the Pandemic was having in The Gambia we established a Hardship Fund, which has over the year donated £2800 to over 172 recipients providing financial assistance to families in need for a variety of reasons. Funding has been received for 3 projects to be undertaken in The Gambia in 2022: Funding of £8,000 to install a solar powered water supply, storage, and distribution for a village of 1200 whose water source has ceased to be potable. Funding of £1,457.88 partial funding for construction of a staffroom at Bijilo Nursery. Funding of £1500 to start work on completing a house for a family of eight whose head died and despite the best efforts of the community to try to complete the structure it remains uninhabitable after 8years. The family currently live in a mud walked house with only two beds. Finally, we must report that two of our trustees, Paul Burns and Peter Pike, unfortunately passed away. |
