Para 1.20 | • Negotiated with North Norfolk District Council for the Trust to manage, under 99 year agreements, 1 new Surveyors Allotment site: Aylmerton No 2 on 5 Dec 2023 - another NNDC site (Bodham) remains under consideration • Habitat management work included work at 13 sites • Delivered events to engage with the public: a Bioblitz (a wildlife survey over a 24 hour period) on 23rd June at West Beckham Old Allotments. This supplemented regular species monitoring of birds, plants, butterflies and invertebrates by visiting experts and our volunteers and was attended by local residents and other members of the public. • Close working links continued with RSPB Operation Turtle Dove, continuing progress on making West Beckham Old Allotments more suitable for attracting breeding Turtle Dove • Continued to contribute to the National Trust Riverlands project, including water quality testing, surveying birds, butterflies and plants in the Upper Bure catchment, and the Upper Bure River Valley eDNA project • Facilitated Corporate Volunteer days with Marsh Insurance, Norwich • Facilitated student volunteer time with Gresham’s School • Final Grant payment from Norfolk Resident Coast (£4060) for completed work on information boards and infrastructure improvements to two sites • Successful applications for funding from Farming in Protected landscapes (£1055) allowed purchase of replacement tools & equipment and Norfolk County Council’s Targeted Trees Scheme (£506) allowed purchase of whips to gap up hedges. Reimbursement of costs fell to 2024 - 2025 accounting period. • Produced four Newsletters to keep partners, supporters, volunteers and collaborators abreast of the Trust’s work & achievements • Maintained a website with regular “Blog” features following working parties • Held 4 trustees meetings and AGM • Nick Acheson (naturalist, conservationist & author) appointed as 3rd patron |
