Our flagship PfORCt. the construction of Linda Communlty School, a school for vulnerable children in Lwin8Stone. Zambia. continued with completA)n of two new s*niftant E￿ik1•n85. The new science bk)ck Iwith water. electrKity and gas. as well as equipment for experlments) allows children to Stu(ty hands on practKal Science for the first tin*. This is a major new teathing assel and several other kKal 8overnrnent schools that lack such a tscilty have booked teachi￿ time there as well. We also built an 'insaka' that Wa5 the subject of the Runner Up prize for the Ensineerint Outreach Award from the Worshipful Company of E￿ineerS in the U.K. Thi5 sfrurture combine5 traditional architectural elements with an innovative surroufbdin8 wall and interior bench made from 'eco- brick5, made by children in Ihe sclM)ol. The 'lnsaka'. opened by the Mayor ot LNin85tone. is used to SUPPOrt the feedir)g programme, as an additlonal teaching space and, outside School hour5, by our women's empowerment Kroup. Both structures were bullt to budget. Adult ed￿ation cla55e5 continued there in the faciliti￿ we have prevhwsty txèilt. Some teachers at the sch¢)ol were given support in enhancin8 their teaching qualificatlons. Four of our trustees were able to visit Zambia and visit our FKojects during the reportln8 perw)d. Three new schools in U.K. joined those thal already support us. They all enjoyed letter andlor art exchanges with J School in Zambia as well as at least one video link durin8 this period. A dozen schools now sUPPOrt the charity and derive benefit from It 1hro￿h their links to schools arHI children in Zambla. The yeaes fundraisi￿ aciivltles Invow events held by several of the schools. as well as bv supporter5 in the U.K. {indud1￿ doln8 the Great North Run, other sponSo￿d funs. donatln8 the Proceeds Ot open garden5 Stalls and a musk n￿ht} and Ireland Iwith bake and dress sales). The charity recefved a second Movement For Good Award Irom Benefact Group. At the end of the reporting period the charSty was well placed to continue pur5uin8 its obierts. As well as wcce55ful fvndrai5in& the pefiod saw increased support and co-operation with the District Education Board, the Mayor and the Cily Councll In Uvlngstone. all of whorn attended the openin8 of the rbew science block and in5aka at Linda Community Sthool.
