## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022**

## **TRUSTEES' REPORT**

The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022

## **PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES**

The principal activity of the charity in the year under review was raising funds to support NHS workers .

## **STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**

Beth Hutton contracted COVID December 2021 – was off work unwell for both HOTHS and NHS until April 2022 and suffered with Long Covid throughout this time. Beth met with Trustees on 12th Feb 2022 to discuss Covid and Long Covid and not working for HOTHS whilst off work from NHS. However, we are proud that even with these challenges, we still managed to carry out some activities and fulfil our charitable objectives.

## Charitable Objectives:

“Promote and protect the mental and physical wellbeing and health of NHS workers through the provision of facilities or service, conferences and events for the benefit of NHS workers”

Activities:

- In June 2022, we hosted our first Time Out day since 2020. It was so brilliant to have our first Time Out day back since the pandemic. We were reminded of how much the Time Out days are appreciated and how much of a positive impact they have.

- In July 2022 in honour of the NHS existing for 74 years, we posted a message to our Facebook and Instagram followers asking them “Have you ever met someone that was sunshine in human form?” We asked people to nominate NHS staff for us to send a treat to. We had an incredible response with wonderful nominations including this one:

“S.N from Branston Ward, every shift she smiles and lights up the day, I have never met a kinder, more compassionate nurse who goes the extra mile for not only those in her care but her colleagues as well”

We thanked 40 staff individually with a personal card and Boots voucher as a token of thanks to show them that they are appreciated.

Governance: HOTHS has a very experienced board of trustees who hold Beth to account for the charities activities, finances, accounts and time worked for the charity.

Summary: Although we faced challenges with Beth Hutton being unwell, we still managed to fulfil our charitable objectives during this time.

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022**

## **TRUSTEES' REPORT**

We look forward to another year of thanking NHS staff, providing space for NHS staff to rest and recuperate. We still see the impact that small gestures can have. With the pressure on the NHS ever increasing, we will continue to do what we set out to do as a charity.

The report was prepared in accordance with the special provisions within Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006.

This report was approved by the Board of Trustees on 31 October 2023
