This significant step for the thanty opened up the potential to support
more people In our IoGg1ty and our services growng year on year.

As 2022 progressed, some of our face to face services We￿ able to
operate m0rn.n0rn￿1lY with many of the precautions taken during the
pand8mic being drotped. How@V8r. fof the protection of all guests and
volunteers, we continue to ask that all attend8as at any face to face
service are fully vaccinated.
Guests Mere encouraged to atterKI the Support Café's again which are
now fully operabonal and thnwTYJ.
The emphasis was on mental health conditions as this has been a
growing and urgent need in the ￿1mMUnIty The Charity has responded
to the need by providi￿ services relevant to our Mission Statement
arKI to the needs identif￿1 bistaff and artners over the
ear.

Volunteers
Volunteers cx)ntinue to be the lrfe blood of the charity 8nd at the end of
Decembef 2022, Hospice Hope had 51 volunteers. This was again a fall
In volunleer numbers but wrth the thange in many of our ￿rvI￿S, we
were able to continue to off8r all of the services in a safe and secure
manner for all of our guests.

All volunteers wr)rk on a 1-1 basis with our sernices users (this
indudes support provided by telephono, email or letter) must take an
8nhanc&J DBS check befo￿ they are ab￿ to start volunteering with the
charty. This check is repeated every thr88 years, a policy that was
introducad by the chanty in earfy 2017.
Since April 2018, all volunteers are required to attend safeguarding
training and where appropriate, volunteers have also attended first aid
and mo'iing and handling training. The training has been facililated by
pr¢)fe88it)n?l trainfjrs or onlinp training provid8r and paid for by the
ch8nty This ensures Ihe required support for both voluntser and guest.

Fundraising - income
Our grants and trusts fundraisiTh3 income during the year has enabled the
Chartty to develop our servi￿$ to attomnuthte the in(xeased demand
for mental health services.
Regular {k￿ti(￿S and one off dmations. as well as l￿reStrICted grants,
have also been an invaluable source of funds to ￿ntinUe Ihose seNices
for vthKth we kAv8 mt received direct furKIiw.
SignifKant incrnase in service users and diversity of services
Our fundraising success and continued communty engagement has
enab18(I Ihe charity to fund the developmen{ implementstion and delivery
of new online and telephone serVi￿S that enable existing and r￿W
service users to a￿esS as many services as posstble.
The o)nlinuation and extension of the seThices introduced last year have
resulted in a further nc¥ease in new service users growing from 155 to
197 durirvJ 2022.
All the seprfices that V￿ hav8 been d81iverirrfJ continu8 to achieve our key
objectiV8s of supportirKJ those are affected by long term conditions
by reduang isolatK>n and br*11r￿. crnab'ro access to other seNices
and a retum to nomal life.
During 2022 the tharity delivered the following services..
CounselliNJ - increasing the capaoty by employiThJ a further
counsellor: renting a room in the town centre for face to face
counselling for thctse guests werè unable to access Hope
House and were uncomfortable telephone counselling.
Bafn￿dI￿ Service- a nthvload for this service via the
tslephone, zoom, email or penpal was èmployed in March 2022. It
is anticipated that this service will grow and develop now we no
longer have so many restnctions regarding face to facA meetings.
line support groups- a ￿ordinatOr for Online groups was
also employed in March 2022 and this enablad mor8 online
services to be added to the regular chat groups, induding the
introducts'on of a range of spectfic interest online groups e.g
craftirvJ, sealed thair exercises, meditation, general interest talks
Tablet Loan Scheme - enabling peopl8 to access'the intem8t,
Communi￿te with loved ones and join in with our online groups
by providing a tablet and access to wtfi (for free)
Loig Covid- this service was muth in demand as the county
moved from being in Ihe grip of the pandemic to recovering from
it. Many people h8ve been unable to get to grips with a new life
stwe and are fearful of moving bad( to °how1rf8 used to b8°. The
servi￿, set up in 2021, has bean a lffe line to many guests.
Complementsry Therapy - now being offered at Hope House
instead of online and has tecome an invaluable asset W0￿.ng
with guests are suffenng from Long Covid.
New staff
As stated above, some new staff have enabled our services not just to b8
maintained. but to grow substantially Due to the success of our
counselling seNice, the Charity Manager is looking to set up a contract
wtth a further o)unsellor so that can offer this vital support to the area
in the foreseeable futura.
However. our Charity Fundraiser set up her own tyjsiness during this
ear and we are currentl advèrtisi

Lights of Love
Our Ylagship. event return￿ to Ihe Ferrers Centre, near Ashby de la
Zouch in December a beautiful Christmas Tree for those who have
lost loved ones to remember by hanging a Memory Tag on the tree.
Attendan￿ at the eV￿t %WdS a testament to how much people
appreciated the opporttjnrty to remember together at an inspiriry and
moving service in a beautiful setting.
