Basement Youth UK Ltd Trustee Report 01 April 2020 – 31 March 2021 Lockdown imposed Covid 26 03 2020

Introduction

The trustees present the annual report and accounts for the year ending March 31 2021. The board of trustees are not satisfied with the performance for this financial year end for the Charity (Registered as a Charity on 06 10 2016) from the decisions being imposed under lockdown. We fully accepted the viewpoint as a Charity and carried out every precaution to safeguard all people through this difficult period.

We continued with adequate capital assets to fulfil our obligations with a good structure in regards to policy and practice / finance with Three active Trustees.

We have put in place all the PPE requirements to our building that we use as guided by Gov policy.

The Schools who we serve have totally bailed out on referrals to us due to CV19 and its impacts even though they were at times still open. We were left with few viable options to continue any work. More alarmingly Schools would not pay for sessions they had previously signed up for leaving us in a financial mess.

BYUK Ltd paid forward rent to Rosehill Baptist Church in 2016 and signed a 5 year continued covenant agreement for use of the use of the building until 2022. BYUK Ltd completed the work (Windows, Kitchens and bringing unusable rooms back into being to the cost of approx. £9,000).

However in 2018 - 2019 the Church Rosehill Baptist Church decided to cut short this agreement to 1 year from Easter 2019 whilst also changing the way we used rooms that we rented off them since 2013. This we feel was an unacceptable move which will hinder our funding plans at this site jeopardising continuation we had made to the building, grounds and Church. Charities will not agree to funding us without an S L A agreement of more than one year in place and will not give capital to benefit other Charities on such short

negotiations. Rosehill Church are totally aware the dilemma and predicament they place us in at this time.

Rosehill Church have had no conversations regarding status of their building in this period and continue to persue a one year contract from 2019 – 2020 2020 – 2021. We have outlined to the Church the detrimental effect this will have on us as a Charity with them not agreeing to extend for a least a 3 year term as in their original agreement with us. Leroy Bowtel (Minister) and Laura Dunn (Secretary) both said they would look into this as they acknowledged our standpoint for funding purposes. The Church does not produce minutes for these meetings. They did nothing as a Church to address this situation with us only implementing what was suitable for their own objectives.

The BYUK Ltd Trustees obligation is to secure working arrangements with organisations that allow us to fulfil our core charitable objectives to the communities which we serve.
