  1. Share Tanzania Annual Report 1st Nov 2019 - 31st Oct 2020

Objectives and Activities

Share Tanzania aims to alleviate poverty for public benefit, through the creation of children’s homes, community buildings, grants, school fees, medical fees, books, equipment to children and young people, hygiene and nutritional support including for vulnerable individuals including those with special needs, HIV/Aids, children who experienced hardship of life on the streets, children who are struggling and dealing with trauma, elderly in need and single guardians caring for children living in Tanzania.

We have referred to the guidance contained within the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and in planning our future events.

Structure, governance and management

Share Tanzania is a Charitable Incorporated Organization which is governed by a foundation constitution. Trustees can be appointed by other trustees and there should be a minimum of two and a maximum of twelve. Decisions are made at Trustee meetings, in writing and/or electronic forms agreed upon by all charity trustees. Meetings take place via Skype/Zoom or in person and informal correspondences by email, WhatsApp, Facetime or in person. Meetings are held monthly with an AGM in November.

Trustees

The trustees oversee the affairs of the charity on a volunteer basis. Trustee’s are assigned specific duties but have all collaborated and helped outside of assigned duties to optimize the efficiency of Share Tanzania. Charitable contributions to Share Tanzania

Most funds to Share Tanzania are made through our website and processed by Paypal or Stripe. Other funds come in from Virgin Money, Just Giving, Gift Aid and by direct donation to the bank account. Share Tanzania can be reached by email at enquiries@sharetanzania.com or on the website www.sharetanzania.co.uk, also via social media at www.facebook.com/sharetanzania/ and www.instagram.com/share_tanzania/

Grants making policy

The agreed grant making policy of Share Tanzania is to support the provision of these objectives through grants. For the 2018-2019 year we granted funds to one charity, Village to Village in Tanzania. This is a registered Tanzania NGO. We have continued to have significant collaboration with the NGO by discussing which of their works to support through grants. Reports are received by the NGO on activities and overall progress toward each year’s budget and plan. Share Tanzania supports the full running costs of Village to Village through its grants.

Continued work by Share Tanzania

New Projects and Successes

This was a unique year with the covid-19 world pandemic. We provided nutritious food bundles for families in need. With the help of Last Night a DJ Saved my Life, we provided covid hygiene packages and taught the community the importance of proper hygiene. During the early days of the pandemic we also instituted strict rules on the Featherstale grounds, restricting movement outside of the compound to protect the diabled children, who are more susceptible to sickness. It was a testament to the love of the children that many of the staff, without hesitation, chose to stay on the grounds rather than returning to their own homes.

Share Tanzania provided a top of the line drone and flying lesson to the anti poaching rangers protecting West Kilimanjaro, the first in their armory. This gave rangers the capability to cover much more ground without navigating the bush by car or foot, meaning they can put rangers on top of poachers in no time. Funding was provided to reinstate 4 rangers over a 6 months period. These rangers protect 2 prides of lions that make up over 20 of the last 20,000 on earth.

The new addition to Featherstale Children's Village, Esther’s Home, filled up immediately after opening its doors. It is home to 3 newborn babies and their mothers who need support in order to care for their babies. It is also home to 8 children with special needs who urgently needed to come into care.

We thank our global family that have provided donations from all around the world!

A special thank you to Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.

Last Night a DJ’s Set for Love provided over 300 vulnerable children and adults with soaps, sanitizer, masks and gloves during the pandemic.

Highlights of Last Night a DJ Saved my Life Foundation include funding of the rent and additional equipment and supplies for the Music and Art School, a wheelchair ramp and beds for Esther’s home, nutritional support for malnourished children in the community and 6 wheelchairs.

In love and gratitude, we sincerely ank you a.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF SHARE TANZANIA

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Share Tanzania (‘the charity’) for the year ended 31 October 2020.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

Since the charity’s income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member both of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Association of Charity Independent Examiners, both listed bodies.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  2. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
