TRUSTEES REPORT
The Trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31st March 2025.
Organisation
East End Connection (EEC) is a grassroots community organisation that aims to promote social
and cultural inclusion in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, particularly Whitechapel, Stepney
and Wapping areas.
The Trustees meet regularly to develop policies and fundraising strategies for the charity. The
day-to-day running and fundraising of this is led by one trustee, Bodrul Alom.
How it was Founded
EEC was established in January 2009 and registered as a charity in October 2016. The founding
trustees were Bodrul Alom. Abdul Ahad. Abdul Khalam Ali, Kamal Uddin Ahmed, and Shaharul
Alom.
Appointment of Trustees
The Board of Trustees has the power to appoint additional Trustees or remove Trustees as it
considers fit. Details of Trustees in office in the year are on page ￿0. The Trustees have no
beneficial interest in the organisation other than as members.
Objective and Activities
To develop and deliver initiatives to promote social and cultural inclusion in the London Borough
of Tower Hamlets. in particular, Whitechapel, Stepney and Wapping. The aim is to:
(a) prevent disadvantaged people from becoming socially excluded,
(b) promote social inclusion through increasing opportunities for all, regardless of background.
(c) support the socially excluded to re-integrate them into mainstream society.
EEC has worked on developing a heritage project during the last couple of years and successfully
raised funds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The exciting new project called 'Stories of
struggles and strides: half a ￿ntury of Bangladeshi endeavours in London's East End., This
unique project will record, archive and present the stories of Bangladeshi ACTIVISM in the face
of challenges they faced as they migrated and settled in the East End of London during 1950
2000. The unrecorded stories will be collected and stored for future generations to learn from and
better understand the heritage and history of East London, including some of the heritage of their
ancestors. This project will create a vital heritage resource. Many community members feel that
their stories have yet to be told from their voices, and how people understand what happened
contains a lot of gaps and wrong understanding. By getting the stories from various people and
contextualising them through archival research and data analysis, the project will provide a more
comprehensive account of what happened and make the past activists feel more comfortable with
how people will re-understand East End Bangladeshi history and heritage.
The project is to commence in the next financial year 2024125. A steering group has been set up
to help deliver the project more effectively and solely to support this project's delivery based on
the funding application's requirements. The steering group consists of seven community veterans
and organisation representatives.

Page 4
East End Connection (EEC) - 202412025
They will help steer and support the project to its successful completion. The Steering Group, at
its inauguration meeting in February 2024, elected Soyful Alom as Chair and included Abdul Malik
Kukon, Mohammed Jowardaar Shiraj, Sadeque Amin, Joynul Hoque, Rajon Uddin Jalal, Fanu
Miah, and Bodrul Alom as members for the duration of the project.
Public Benefit Statement
The Board Members confirm that they have complied with their duty under the Charities Act 2011
to ensure the charity provides public benefit. They have considered the public benefit guidance
published by the Charity Commission and believe they have followed its guidance in this area.
Achievements and Performance
Following the pandemic, very few activities have occurred because of a lack of funds. In the post-
pandemic. EEC has been actively developing operational policies and fundraising strategies. In
this context, it successfully developed a heritage project known as "Stories of struggles and
strides.. half a century of Bangladeshi endeavours in London's East End" and attracted 18 months
of funding for it.
Financial Review
It periodically monitors its income over expenditure to ensure strict compliance with restricted and
unrestricted budgets. At present, it has a zero-reserved policy because of the limited funds, but it
is gearing towards it, which depends on its financial solvency in the next couple of years.
Structure, Governance and Management
Its Deed of Trust governs it in temis of its operation, accountability and complian￿. The accounts
have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 of the accounts
and comply with the governing rule and applicable law.
Reference and Administrative Details
Its Registered office and Principal business address is 46 Myrdle Street, London E1 1 HL.
The trustees are Bodrul Alom, Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Abdul Khalam Ali, and Shaharul Alom.
Bodrul Alom leads the day-to-day operational and fundraising activities, and all financial matters
are collectively scrutinised by all Trustees.
Conclusion
For the record, it is important to acknowledge that EEC was masterminded by Bodrul Alom in 2009
in collaboration with his close friends and business associates. including Abdul Ahad. Kamal Uddin
Ahmed, Abdul Khalam Ali and Shaharul Alom. His ongoing dedication, relentless effort, and
unconditional support enable the organisation to grow organically. Finally, we would like to thank
Muhit Uddin, Principal Accountant of Muhit and Co, for his professional input and for acting as an
independent examiner in-kind for its first Independently Examined Accounts for 202412025
