Trustees in office over this period were:

Dr Kingsley Alfred Clifford Chesworth, who had been a trustee since the charity’s inception, died near the end of the previous accounting year.

Kingsley was a witty and good-natured man, and a long-standing trustee who played a major part in shaping the charity. He is much missed.

Governing Document is the charity’s constitution adopted 28/6/2016.

Who is the Charity for?

The residents of the village of Moylegrove, Pembrokeshire. All profits generated are used to support the services we provide and to maintain the former school as a village hall. Our activities are designed to have a positive impact on the quality of life for the community of Moylegrove. As an organisation that is run by the community for the benefit of everyone in the community, we encourage all to be involved.

Trustee selection

The trustees form the management committee of the charity and meet monthly. Trustees are resident in the Moylegrove community and are elected by the community at the AGM. Trustees may also be co-opted by the existing trustees during the year, and stand for election at the following AGM. All trustees work on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration.

Charity Objects as Stated in our Constitution

CT's formal objects ('the Objects') are to promote for the benefit of the residents of the village of Moylegrove (Pembrokeshire) and neighbourhood without distinction of race, sex, sexual orientation, or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together such residents, local authorities and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation of the residents with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.

Summary of main achievements during the year

Village activities in the Hall

A range of activities was held in Moylgrove Old School Hall, which is owned by the charity.

Moylegrove Old School Hall is well known in North Pembrokeshire for its range of interesting activities. It is well-loved and supported by the local community, and is a busy hub of village life. All of our events are social gatherings in addition to any specific topic or activity. We hold a bar licence.

Occasional events:

Hire - we hire the hall for both private and public events, including birthdays, wedding and funeral receptions, and as a polling station. Meetings of the Nevern Community Council and Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum are held here.

Welsh Water hired the hall for an informative public meeting about the quality of local supply.

The Pembrokeshire County Council Child Mental Health team hired the hall for a total of seven days for therapy sessions with young people. They cited the peaceful location and good facilities as their reasons for choosing our Hall.

We also hired out our chairs for an event at a private house.

Environmental monitoring

Residents of Moylgrove continue to be concerned about the overuse of the local bay by commercial coasteering, kayaking and paddleboarding. These activities have serious negative aspects on the community and the wildlife of Ceibwr Bay, which is in an SSSI and a Marine Conservation Area. Cymdeithas Trewyddel, in pursuit of its object of the wellbeing of the residents, works with the National Trust, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, and other relevant bodies to seek better protection of the Ceibwr Bay area.

The next 12 months

We will continue our programme of activities that enliven the local community and provide a hub for social life.

We will continue to monitor and seek solutions to the overuse of the Ceibwr Bay area.

Financial report 2023-24

Total income for the year was £8221.10, and expenditure £8229.72. Bank balance at the end of the year was £11,545.79. (This includes £6000 in a deposit account that was opened during the year.)

The Trustees’ policy is to aim for a minimum of 6 months’ expenditure in the current account.

The major expenditure was on electricity, mainly for heating. This has come down since last year, and is expected to come down again in the forthcoming year.

The Trustees declare that they have approved the report for the year 2023-2024.
