Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
During the autumn term 2024, the children enjoyed the garden area. They picked home grown potatoes, which were cut into wedges and cooked. The children introduced a scarecrow display, creating their own scarecrows. The Happy Birthday board encouraged children to learn the months of the year and to recognise when their birthday is. In October we celebrated Black History Month. We talked about Garrett Morgan who invented the traffic lights, sang a traffic light song and played traffic light games. The children enjoyed celebrating other religious festivals along with festive craft activities and a Christmas party. The children took part in a Christmas concert that included songs they had learnt, such as, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, When Santa got stuck up the Chimney, I’m so Happy, and We wish you a Merry Christmas. The majority of children are very young and very shy, despite this, it was very much enjoyed by all the children, families and staff and some of the parents were really impressed with how the children were all able to stay and stand in front of the parents. During the spring term 2025, a new learning App was introduced called Famly. The App enabled the staff to update the parents each week about what their child is doing, along with pictures, and new targets. Parents are also able to send in pictures of their children either on holiday or of weekend activities. The spring term included celebrating Chinese New Year, a Winter display of polar bears and the children wrote their names on hearts for their parents. The children took part in World Book Day which was extended for the whole week. The children enjoyed making pancakes and taking them home. At the end of the term the children took part in an Easter bunny hunt. During the summer term 2025. The children enjoyed watching the life cycle of caterpillars turning into butterflies. The butterflies were then released into our garden area. In the garden we planted sunflower seeds which the children took home and then they reported to us how big their sunflower was growing. One member of staff is a qualified photographer and our leavers had a graduation photo taken. There was also an extremely enjoyable sports day which rounded off the year and was attended by the parents/carers, it was obvious that everyone very much enjoyed these occasions as the parents are keen to take part in the parent’s races. During the whole year, whenever possible, the children benefitted from the garden space and the outside veranda area. The staff were creative in providing sports and physical activity sessions. Through successful recruitment, a new member of staff was recruited in April 2025, and commenced an online Early Years training course. All the staff are involved in ongoing staff development. Staff completed the relevant EYFS training in relation to the changes in September 2025, and undertaking LEA or online training. The website continued to be updated and parents also received regular emails to keep them up to date with events, news and general information. There were some significant changes in the garden area. Some of the garden equipment was replaced or repainted. Mirror trees have been purchased that hang in the garden, but can also be taken inside around the main hall to create a different affect.
