Section D Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main** During the autumn term 2023, the children enjoyed discussing emotions **achievements of the charity** and creating monsters with different emotions. Children also talked about **during the year** their super power and what they were really good at doing. We introduced a Happy Birthday board to encourage children to learn the months of the year and to know when their birthday is. The children enjoyed celebrating various religious festivals along with festive craft activities and a Christmas party. The children took part in a Christmas concert that included songs such as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, When Santa got stuck up the Chimney, I’m so Happy, and We wish you a Merry Christmas to name but a few that the children had been learning. As this was the first year for a while that the majority of children were very young and very shy, despite this, it was very much enjoyed by all the children, families and staff. The topic for the spring term 2023 started off with the children enjoying the new pirate ship in the garden and the children enjoyed making pirate hats, treasure maps and looking for the treasure. The spring term also included celebrating Chinese New Year and taking part in an Easter bunny hunt. During the summer term 2023, the topic was ‘new life’. The children enjoyed watching the life cycle of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. The butterflies were then released into our garden area. In the garden area we purchased some shower curtains with beach and under the sea scenes, and this encouraged children to create their own fish tails that they could wear or they were put up around the walls with letters of the alphabet on. One member of staff is a qualified photographer and our leavers had a graduation photo taken and the parents also wanted an end of year group photo to remember the class of 2024. There was also an extremely enjoyable sports day which rounded off the year and was attended by the parents/carers, it was obvious that everyone very much enjoyed these occasions. During the whole year, whenever possible, the children benefitted from the garden space and the outside veranda area. The staff were creative in providing sports and physical activity sessions. Through successful recruitment a new member of staff was recruited to start in September 2023 as an apprentice who qualified in July 2024. All the staff were involved in staff development and completing their relevant training with the LEA or online. The website continued to be updated and parents also received regular emails to keep them up to date with events, news and general information. There were some significant changes in the garden area and replacing some of the garden equipment. Refurbishment also took place of some areas in the main hall and toilets. The pre-school has had a successful year and all the staff are to be commended on their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment.
