| 2) Receipt of Officer Reports |
● Full notes attached at end. ● Secretary ○ Thanks to all club volunteers ○ Note that due to banking charges the trustees have been changed from 4 to 3: ■ R Hudspith ■ S Eglon ■ P Newman ● Treasurer ○We made a surplus in 2024/25 of £5,561. This was primarily due to grant income of £4,500 (£2,500 from Northumberland County Council and £2000 from Prudhoe Town Council) and sale of equipment (old kayaks) for £770. Membership fees and equipment rental income basically covered day to day operating costs. ○ We only had 4 pool sessions in this financial year due to the refurbishment of Waterworld. We have not been invoiced for the sessions yet (see note on accruals below) but assuming £100 per session, we made a surplus of £81 on the pool sessions. ○ The surplus in 2024/25 from grants and equipment largely covered the loss we made in 2023/24 on the purchase of new equipment, so thank you to Rachel for achieving this balancing act. ○ We finished the year with a bank balance of £15,089 but the accounts include accruals of £1,700 for uninvoiced pool fees from Sept/Oct |

TVCC Secretary Report 2024/2025
Firstly on behalf of the committee I would like to thank all of our volunteers, coaches and committee members for their time and efforts during the past year. As a voluntary organisation we could not operate without their commitment. We would however benefit from more help in the general running of the club.
Current membership renewals stand at 57 which is down 2 on last year at this stage (59) although we have 3 temporary members currently, 1 full member pending and 3 enquiries. This is great news as the lack of winter pool sessions could have had a greater impact upon our membership! The renewal process appears to have gone smoothly with some of the previous issues with SPOND resolved. The main issue is still that for family membership to be applied members should live at the same address and have the same payee for their membership.
This year the committee has been working hard to strengthen the future of the club.
-
Support coaches and leaders in their continued personal development.
-
Enquiries around planning permissions for the country park highlighted issues with the tenure put in place by Northumberland County Council, this is again being modified to allow for our future developments, hopefully 25/26 is the year to allow this!
-
Upgrade to club website, thanks to Will Mac for his help with this.
-
Apply for grants to allow for investment in equipment.
-
Maintain existing equipment.
-
Acquire updated equipment.
-
Manage the winter sessions without the availability of Prudhoe Waterworld pool, these are due to resume this year!
All of this has allowed us to maintain our British Canoeing (Paddle UK) Quality Club Status. This should enable us to move forward with plans to develop our base at Tyne Riverside Park. We look forward to sharing further details with members and seeking their input as this progresses.
Congratulations to those members that have been able to achieve their leadership awards in the past year. We will hopefully be able to provide additional trips and events in the future with the additional capacity provided by their efforts.
Upcoming events:
-
7th June TVCC River clean up
-
5th July Prudhoe riverside safety event including open day
-
19th September to 27th March ‘26 pool sessions

TVCC Chair / Coaching Officer report:
A BIG Thank You to those Coaches and Leaders who supported sessions throughout past year
Pool Sessions
We managed to squeeze in 4 sessions at the pool before it closed for refurbishment. Thanks again to coaches who gave their time to support paddlers.
Pool sessions have now been booked for Sept 25 and January 26. I am sure are looking forward to get back in the pool this coming Autumn and enjoy the improvements. I am still negotiating better storage for the pool.
River Sessions on Friday nights were well supported with lots of activities including Slalom sessions SUP, Sea Kayak as well as kayak and canoe coached sessions.
Visibility on Facebook continues to be prominent but we could do with more contributions of stories of club activity.
Membership is healthy but the lack of pool sessions has affected this and many members have not been very active.
The club tried a few social activities before Christmas to encourage members to stay active. Karting at Teamsport Scotswood road was popular.
Club Saturday Programme.
The Saturday sessions over the winter were aimed at keeping some continuity to club activity following the loss of the pool sessions. These were poorly attended over the winter period.
Non Coached sessions
These were introduced to free up sessions for those members requiring coaching so that the sessions were not over-subscribed. These sessions can only be offered if there is a coach on site that can be responsible for this session and offer support if needed.
Events
River clean-up 8[th] June 24 was postponed till the 29[th] June with a good attendance The next event has been scheduled for 8th June 25.

Members Coach/Leader Development
4x members successful with WW Kayak Awards
Gail has completed Sea Kayak and Canoe Leader Assessment. No payment has been offered as this was not agreed with committee. Carl Roadhouse also gained his WW Canoe Leader Award.
The club supported Gail by financing 50% of her Paddlesport Touring Leader Award. Dave Graydon was supported with gaining his WW Kayak Leader and First Aid Certificate Grant Aid
The club received a grant from Prudhoe Town Council £2000 and Community Chest Grant £2500.
We are still awaiting the outcome of the PTC Grant award for 2025.
We were unsuccessful with an application to Gateshead Council.
Equipment
The club bought a Valley Etain Sea Kayak and A North Shore Aquanaut Sea kayak with Grant Money from Northumberland Community Chest Grant. Valley Storm Surf kayak was sold at £250
Perception Method and Master Lite Junior kayak were both sold £270
The club purchased another set of trolley wheels and new airbags for kayaks.
Plans for 2025/26
Boat House development
- The Lease agreement has been surrendered as there were many mistakes on the Lease. A new Lease agreement has been requested so that planning applications can be made for a new Boat Storage facility. Next stage will be to seek plans and drawings for new boat shed, apply for planning permission, then seek tenders.
Equipment
-
Sell off some of the kayaks not used. i.e., Perception Sundance Tourer.
-
Purchase more spraydecks for Pool and river use.
-
Tidy Boat stores and maintenance of surrounding area.
Club Accreditation
- Club has had Club Accreditation renewed for a further year. A new set of Criteria has been sent by Paddle UK and will be revised as Paddle England Accreditation.
Boat House development
- Help has been sought to help with Planning Applications. It was highlighted that the Lease agreement needed to be altered as the plans of our site did not match what we actually have. This was due to the delays from Northumberland CC. NCC are now completing amendments which should allow the club to apply for planning for the new build.
● Once planning has been approved, we will seek tenders then apply for grant funding. Continue to raise profile of club through social media and by offering a taster day and community-based events, including links with school groups.
-
Develop new Coaches and Leaders.
-
Seek a strong committee to work on projects.
-
