Concerns .
Quality Mark
We are not getting very far on with completing the standards expected of us to qualify. Do we pursue this or adopt just the criteria that are essential?
-
We need to attract or develop more coaches and leaders to share their experience and support the club.
-
Committee needs more support to spread the workload.
-
Safety on the river is a concern therefore all club members should be mindful of this over the coming summer.
-
Pool boats and club boats are in need of a good maintenance session to bring up to specification.
Secretaries report:
Many thanks to the continued commitment of committee members and members that have given their time to the club and it’s members over the past year. As a voluntary organisation Tyne Valley Canoe Club would not be able to function without their support.
Congratulations to all members on their own personal achievements throughout the year, I am sure the club will benefit greatly from their efforts. We would like to remind members wishing to develop their skills for the benefit of other club members that bursaries can still be applied for via British Canoeing directly. If anyone is interested, please discuss with Rachel as chair / coaching officer or Stephen as the club secretary
The new system for membership and booking of club activities came online during the past year and has helped greatly in the administration of both aspects of the club.
Currently we have 54 full members vs 40 renewals this time last year.
Coaches and leaders are encouraged to generate the activities they run and to register participants. This appears to be working well and has helped to boost pool attendance over previous years.
There has been 25 pool sessions with an average attendance of 13.25
There has also been a wide range of activities and trips over the past year ranging from the usual local river systems to new rivers, lakes, lochs and coastal trips. There has also been a notable increase in the social aspect of the club and multi day offerings. Many thanks should be given to all those volunteers, coaches and leaders to help these activities take place. Special mention must be given to
Rachel, Paul and Daithi for their commitment to club sessions throughout the year.
Members have benefitted from the updating of facilities this year and maintenance to kit, something that is often forgotten about but without this we would not be able to safely run our sessions. Not to mention our new selection of SUPs.
Hopefully we can build on this successful year with plans to further update our facilities and provision.
