The objects of the CIO are to advance such charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as the trustees see fit from time to time in particular but not limited to: (1) advancing the education of young people in engineering for the public benefit by making grants and awards to young people engaged in education or training and training institutions (2) the prevention and relief of sickness by making grants and awards to charities working with those suffering from dementia and cancer. The charity was set up with its primary purpose as helping young people pursue and advance their education in engineering and to help educational institutions involved in engineering education and training and to support those charities involved in cancer and dementia support and research. The charity trustees have had regard to the guidance on public benefit with their grant donation and all trustees have been aware of the guidance and have been furnished with the documents PB1, PB2 & PB3.
