## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered on 20 September 2016

Trustees are appointed at the AGM. Certain trustees are appointed to be responsible for specific projects and activities of the charity.

## **Objectives and Activities**

The objects of the charity are:

- 1) To relieve the suffering of animals in need of care and attention in Turkey

- 2) To relieve the suffering of stray animals in Turkey the main day to day activities include neutering, veterinary treatment, foster care and permanent rehoming both in Turkey and abroad.

- 3) The charity promotes humane behaviour to animals and provides education to the public pertaining to animal welfare in general.

## **Main Achievements in the period**

## Fundraising

Unfortunately we produced our 2024 calendar later than anticipated, and although we covered our costs, it did not produce the income that we have previously achieved.

A first of many we hope, was the really popular Walk for Kapsa organised by a regular volunteer Lynne Heysett. Lynne lives in Kalkan and over the course of November 2024 pledged to walk 200 kilometres. The campaign was a success and raised a whopping £1275.

Our annual Black Friday online auction was held in November 2024, raising approximately £5146 towards providing food for the street animals of Kalkan during the winter months.

A regular feature is our Christmas Advent Appeal but this year we decided to try something

a bit different We did a ‘Give a Dog a Bone’ appeal where people can buy a wooden bone with their pet’s name on it, and we hang it on a Christmas Tree. The tree this year was displayed at Payava Hotel’s lobby. We raised a wonderful £955.

## Neutering

We continue to actively promote the neutering programme in Kalkan, Turkey and during 2024, a total of 674 animals were neutered. (722 in 2023). Our volunteers are based both in the UK and Turkey.

## Re-Homing

We continue to support the re-homing of animals from Turkey and more dogs (and a few cats), have been successfully rehomed in the UK. KAPSA provides a supporting role to ensure the animals are fully compliant with both the Turkish and UK regulations, as well as any other third party countries the animals have to travel through to reach their destination.

## Winter Feeding Programme

We have continued to support the winter feeding programme in Kalkan, which runs for a six month period. Food is distributed to volunteers throughout Kalkan and the surrounding villages, to feed the local cats and dogs once the tourists have departed and the tourism season has ended. We have received support from the local municipality in providing a small number of bags of food, which has been gratefully received. We also introduced a “Buy a Sack” campaign in the Autumn of 2024, to raise funds in readiness for the Winter Feeding Programme. For the winter period 2023/24 6870 kgs of food was purchased.

## Veterinary Treatment

Our support to the ever increasing veterinary costs in Kalkan continues. Typically, treatment consists of neutering, treatment following a car accident, poisoning and general illnesses or infections caused by fighting with other animals.

Our continued thanks go to the many supporters who donate, and the small team of dedicated trustees and volunteers both in the UK and Turkey who have helped make all this possible through their hard work and commitment.

The Trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.

Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees

L. Watson
