## **Governing Document** 

Compassion for Communities is governed by a Model Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) constitution dated 16 September 2016. 

## **Objectives of the charity** 

1. To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by: (a) The relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities; (b)The promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration; (c) To advance the education of the public in subjects relating to sustainable development and to promote study and research in such subjects provided that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large. This will include links between schools and other educational institutions around the world. 

2. To advance the Christian faith through the establishment of places of worship that will both promote the religion, and sustainable development aims of the charity. 

## **Scope** 

Compassion for Communities UK charity raises funds from supporters and sends regular donations to finance specific community development projects in Zimbabwe. The current project is Ekukhanyeni Nutrition Community Garden. Greenhouse construction is aimed at facilitating the transition from subsistence to commercial horticulture to drive sustainable economic development for the community. 

The Greenhouse will be managed by a cooperative society of the gardeners for the public benefit. Regular inspection visits are carried out by UK Trustees or delegated individuals. 

Compassion for Communities NGO is in the process of registering with the Zimbabwe government and will become the official partner of the charity in that country.

## **Activities and Achievements** 

Compassion for Communities highlights the following activities and project milestones for the 2024-2025 reporting year. 

## **UK fundraising for the Greenhouse construction project.** 

A total of £5664 was raised specifically for the Greenhouse project through fundraising events and online donations from supporters from three local churches in North Nottingham. 

## **Purchase and preparation of materials for the Greenhouse construction.** 

The plastic cover for the Greenhouse was purchased from South Africa, while the metal for the frame was purchased locally, fabricated and painted in preparation for assembly. 

## **Monitoring and evaluation mission** 

Joseph Zulu, the chair of the UK Board of Trustees, visited Zimbabwe to monitor progress at the garden. 

The hard work and dedication of the gardeners was evident and had come to the attention of the national press. 



## **UK Focus** 

Compassion for Communities UK engaged with the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) network and visited one of their flagship projects with the aspiration of setting up a similar project in Nottingham. A proposal presented to the local council was positively received with the council identifying an ideal site considered suitable for such a project. 

## **Advancement of the Christian faith** 

Our chair of trustees took some preaching engagements in Nottingham and in Zimbabwe, in line with the objective of the charity to advance the Christian faith. 

## Review of Major Risks 

AIer a review of the risks, the Trustees resolved that inter-bank transfer is to be the standard way of remiKng funds to pay for goods and services in Zimbabwe, un>l Compassion for Communi>es Zimbabwe is established.
