Annual Report for Torrington & District Men’s Shed – Year Ending 31[st] March 2023
This year has proved to be very challenging for the men’s shed. We have lost a few members to either moving away, ill health or passing away. Also with the cost of utilities forever rising our limited grant money does not go very far.
We have a small nucleus of dedicated members who have continued to keep the spirit of the men’s shed alive. We have started a gardening group within the men’s shed, comprising of a lady who heads it and some new members, this has enabled us to not only grow our own vegetables, but also to supply a limited amount to the local community.
Our core purpose continues as much as possible to promote companionship and alleviate loneliness amongst the older population of the community.
We have not only maintained but extended our involvement with the town council and general population of Torrington, by making or repairing items, usually in wood, and selling items made from recycled timber.
We look forward to a better year in 2023/2024.
