Trustees, Report The Trustees, who are also Directors of the company for Companies Act purposes, present their report for the year ended 30 September 2024. Objectives and Activities The objects of the company are: l. To relieve persons, particularly (though not exclusively) orphans, street children, slum- dwellers, and refugees, who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are sick or homeless and to relieve the distress caused by such conditions in India (particularly in Mumbai) and in such other parts of the world as the trustees may from time-to-time think fit. 2. To promote the education (including social and physical training) of children, women and other disadvantaged andlor marginalised persons in India in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, and in such other parts of the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit. 3. The relief of sickness and the preservation of health among children, women and other underprivileged an(Vor marginalised persons in Indi4 and in such other parts of the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit through the provision of mobile medical units, medical centres and establishments including the provision of equipment, facilities, and services. Achievements and Performance I. PRIMARY FOCUS- EDUCATIONAL SERVICES- Child Engaging and sustsining children in education has the power to prevent exploitation and create intergenerational transforn]ation. Our Community Intervention Programme (CIP) emphasizes on identifying the needy children and supporting them in the school admission process (GovtlPrivate) as per the choice of the family. If the child fails to qualify the admission process or has been dropout for various other factors, then he/she is enrolled and equipped in Beacon Learning Center. Beacon Learning Center has three main streams of coaching: Pre-Primary (Formal Education) Primary (Fornial Education) Bridging Program on Bus (Non-Formal Education) focused on street children ACHIEVEMENTS (EDUCATION) Enrolment at Beacon Pre-Primary has been consistent giving opportunities to the neediest children from 4 different communities in Mumbai, with 964 children enrolled between June 2023 and March 2024, and 1194 children from April 2024 to September 2024. b. Beacon Primary witnessed steady enrolment across Grade I to Grade 3 between June 2023 and September 2024. with 253 children enrolled from June 2023 to March 2024, and another 151 children joining from April to September 2024. c. From October 2023 through September 2024, 1015. children took their fjrst steps into Fonnal Education, reflecting strong community engagement. Beacon's sustained efforts over the years have resulted in the enrolment of 6,675 children into forn]al schooling, including those added in the 2023-24 period. d. Between October 2023 and September 2024, the Education team conducted 22 different types of Awareness Programs. reaching 1674 individuals from urban slum communities and fostering greater awareness around the importance of education. 2. SUPPORT SERVICES- Family & Community Extended through Vision Rescue Community Service Centres (CSC) by team of Community Manager and Community Workers, all qualified social workers: Support facilities provided for MEDICAL/DENTAL/DRUG ADDICT/COUNSELLING- Career & Family VOCATIONAL TRAINING - Tailoring Course, Mehendi Course, Beautician Capsule Course, Making Paper Bags and Bracelets, etc. SPORTS - Football, Cricket Coaching Self Defense - Martial Art l Judo Coaching Empower THE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS AS CHAMPIONS Networking and Liaoning to be done with GO, NGO, Corporates. Trusts and other organi7ations. ACHIEVEMENTS (Support Services) a) A total of1927 individuals were reached in the year 2023-2024, through dental, medical. and mental health awareness campaigns across target communities. b) 8 health camps were conducted, reaching 792 people through partnerships with Government Health Posts and Hospitals-strengthening community trust and promoting health-seeking behaviour. c) 299 women received vocational training in employable skills to support economic self-sufficiency. National and international markets were explored to generate sustainable livelihoods for trained women. Orders secured post training. by the women, included, bracelets (2902), paper bags (1770), notebooks (2120), cards (1950). tote bags (340), pouches (940), tea coasters (490), earrings (310), unifonns (2236) and other items (1510) d) Uniforms for Beacon Learning Centre children for the upcoming academic year are being stitched by the mothers and sisters of the community-building local ownership and pride. ¢) 58 active community champions conducted regular sessions across locations, fostering local leadership. Customised training sessions for the champions were held periodically to build their capacity based on evolving community n¢¢ds. g) The VR Sports Club participated in 6 football matches and 6 cricket matches at the district level, featuring 22 children, some of whom were highlighted in professional leagues. h) The School Support Program successfully trained over 720 students across local municipal schools in Self DefenC￿strengthenIng confidence and personal safety.
