The Trustees present their report together with the accounts for the year ended 31 December 2025

Objectives and Policies: The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by the rules adopted on 7 September 2016.

The objects of the CIO are:

To educate the public and members of the Regiment in the history and military accomplishments of the Regiment, or which further the objects of the CIO, and to promote military efficiency and encourage recruitment by public exhibition of the Collection in a Museum or Museums or such other public places as the Trustees may, from time to time, decide and to conserve, restore, repair, reconstruct and preserve objects in the Collection.

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities.

Trustees: The Trustees must have, and accept, ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the Royal Lancers Museum Trust, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and meeting the needs for which it has been set up. Additionally, Trustees should be appointed on the basis of their knowledge of the Regiment and the collection.

Trustees are recruited and appointed by the full board of Trustees. A record is made in the Minutes. Details of this process are laid down in the Governing Document. Any new Trustee is required to read the current Charity Commission's guidance covering the responsibilities of the Trustees, and on Public Benefit and are required to read and comply with the CIO document which each of them receives.

In preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the Trustees should follow best practice and:

- a) Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently

- b) Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent

- c) Follow applicable accounting standards and Charities SORP disclosing and explaining any departures in the accounts.

and

d) Prepare the financial statements on an ongoing concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in operation.

## **Accounts**

The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which are such as to disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the Charity at any time and to enable them as Trustees to ensure that the accounts comply with Charity Law. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the Charity's assets and ensuring their proper application in accordance with Charity Law and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of error, fraud and other irregularities.

## **RLMT Report December 2025**

## **Overview**

We continue to have two museums, one in Derby operating under the Derby Museum and Arts Trust and the other at Thorseby operating under the management of the Royal Lancers and Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum Trust Limited.

## **Trustees**

There are currently five trustees. The intended composition consists of a Chairman, one trustee from each half of our heritage plus one civilian with specific medals expertise, and the Commanding Officer (ex officio).

## **Chariman's Statement**

These accounts cover a period of consolidation in the museum, which continues to collect, conserve and display objects of interest and archive material from and about all the Lancer regiments of the British Army. We aim to have the finest, most complete and best kept collection of such material anywhere. Our financial records show the steady support we receive from our parent organisation, the Royal Lancers Charitable Trust, from the Ministry of Defence and from individual donors, as well as from heritage bodies that have generously supported our acquisition programme. We gratefully acknowledge all the support we receive.
