**Trustees’ annual report.** “2020 - 2021”

## **Aim and purposes**

The Charismatic Church of Christ Trustees (CCCT) have the responsibility of promoting and managing the whole mission of the Charismatic Church of Christ, from pastoral, evangelistic and social perspectives.

## **Activities/objectives**

The main objectives of the CCC are

- To promote the advancement of the Christian Religion through different activities

- The relief of poverty

- To help the most underprivileged, deprived and vulnerable members of society,

- To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services

The CCCT are committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of our local church in Manchester Newton Heath. The CCCT maintain an overview of worship and makes suggestions on how our services can involve the numerous groups living within our community in Greater Manchester. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer, fasting, scripture, music, and different social activities.

When planning our activities for the year, the CCCT have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our community through:

- fasting and prayer

- different outreach missions

- one to one counselling

- music (praise & worship)

- Bible teachings, Bible reading and Bible meditation

- after school homework club for the youth in the community

- provision of pastoral care for all

- evangelical and missionary activities

## **Some of the CCC’s achievements and performance (2020 – 2021)**

## The relief of poverty

The unforeseen start of the Covid-19 pandemic at the commencement of 2020, especially with the very first lockdown in March 2020 rendered conducting our activities as usual very difficult. Instead a significant majority of interaction took place online. Following the women’s annual conference which took place in March 2020, our organisation created different groups on ZOOM to keep in touch with all members. Furthermore, we put in place a small team of 7 people holding full driving licenses to deliver food and drinks to those who were selfisolating. Beneficiaries included not only members of our church, but also the general public, especially communities of African backgrounds living in Greater Manchester region. As it was not possible to hold day out in Piccadilly as we did in previous years, these one-to-one home visits made a huge difference in the mental health of hundreds of individuals already negatively affected by past trauma issues.

## ‘ ’ Providing online education to the most deprived and vulnerable.

As many education providers (schools, colleges, etc) closed and moved all their activities online, we similarly introduced a new service of supporting young people online (on ZOOM). Additionally, we took time to train and explain to the most advanced in aged who were not familiar with using computers and/or similar, or not accustomed with communicating on platforms such as Skype, Zoom, Google meets, etc, how to do so appropriately. It might be important de signal that most of our service users are individuals with low literacy knowledge. So, this project has made a huge difference, especially withing the challenging contexts of Covid-19.

The method of appointment of CCC trustees is explained in detail in the CCC Constitution. The charity trustees manage the affairs of the CCC and may for that purpose exercise all the powers of the CIO. It is the duty of each charity trustee:

(a) to exercise his or her powers and to perform his or her functions in his or her capacity as a trustee of the CIO in the way he or she decides in good faith would be most likely to further the purposes of the CIO; and

(b) To exercise, in the performance of those functions, such care and skill as is reasonable in the circumstances having regard in particular to:

(i) any special knowledge or experience that he or she has or holds himself or herself out as having; and,

(ii) if he or she acts as a charity trustee of the CIO in the course of a business or profession, to any special knowledge or experience that it is reasonable to expect of a person acting in the course of that kind of business or profession.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF CHARISMATIC CHURCH OF CHRIST**

I report on the accounts of the church for the year ended 01 April 2021, which are set out on the attached page.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The church’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The church’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act); and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner’s report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

- (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or

- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
