Achievements and Performance

Bosom Family Support is a well attended support group in Bottesford, Scunthorpe. The group also runs Bosom Belles (choir) and a chidrens group called Liferafts. The Liferafts group specifically supports children who have ill family members.

In the previous accounts year, Bosom Family Support opened Hope House, this opened in September 2019, with the group taking over the running of the house in May 2019. With the focus of the House becoming a survivorship hub, which allows the group to reach out to even more people.

The house is normally used most evenings during the week, and opens on specific day times for cuppa and chat sessions. The house is being well supported by all the community.

During this financial year, Hope House continues to thrive, and has been busier than ever with more families accessing the House. We continue making adaptations to meet the current needs of our families, and also have hosted community events this year to reflect what is going on in our world. Our meal deliveries continue and we have delivered approximately 14000 to the end of December 2022. We now are providing more regular Holistic therapies including Hypnotherapy which will only progress further into the new year.

The group continues to be well supported by many local businesses and individuals and this allows us to start the financial year by extending the lease to five years. During the year there were successful events, Queens Jubilee, Golf Day, Ball. Most importantly the support given to individuals increased dramatically, with the new house allowing the group, to provide individuals undergoing cancer treatment to have holistic treatments, and to provide more counselling services. Since the opening of Hope House, we have had approximately 5000 people through the doors at Hope House, we have provided many hours of counselling to individuals affected by cancer and their children. = We have provided 60 treatments to people undergoing treatment for cancer. Distributed 1000’s heart shaped cushions and 100 drain bags to local hospitals. The house has become a hub for activities, Yoga, Flower Arranging, Art, Felt Making, Card Making, Mindfulness Groups, all different ways of bringing cancer patients together. This year has exceeded all expectations, and I know we are all very proud of our achievements.
