## **Achievements and Performance**

## **Main Achievements**

The Coastal Voice project continued to be a focus through 2024 and into 2025. After the completion of the ‘Explore’ phase in July 2024 and the completion of the schools and community workshops in Dover, Sefton and Grimsby, activities focused on the delivery of the final 2 phases: ‘Performance’ and ‘Legacy’. The one hour orchestral and multimedia performance of Coastal Voice was given to a capacity audience at Southport’s Atkinson Theatre on Friday October 24th. The first half of the performance consisted of local Sefton artists showcasing their work from the ‘Explore’ phase and included a small play by Joe Lewis about the ‘Iron Men’ installation on Crosby Beach. It was followed by the multimedia performance with an orchestra of musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The 1 hour performance, consisting of film, audio and live music taken from the interviews and workshops in Dover, Sefton and Grimsby, was extremely well received and was subsequently live streamed to the Dover Museum cinema and the Freeman Street Market in Grimsby.

The creation of the ‘Legacy’ phase began immediately after the performance and consisted of material taken from the ‘Explore’ and ‘Performance’ phases of the project. Music In Mind worked closely with the team at Gazooky Studios to develop a series of Augmented Reality experiences to be accessed by the public on their mobile devices in chosen outdoor locations in the 3 regions. 8 different experiences were created in total: 4 for Dover, 2 for Sefton and 2 for Grimsby. Locations included Dover museum and waterfront, the gardens in Waterloo, Sefton and Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. The AR experiences continue to be in place and are available as an ongoing legacy for the Coastal Voice project. The final evaluation was completed in May 2025 and was delivered to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

October 2024 also saw the completion and installation of the ‘Piano Walk’ for Culture Liverpool’s River of Light Festival. The project was a collaboration with Australian artists ‘Amigo and Amigo’ and ran for a week from October 25th 2024 on Liverpool’s waterfront.

The premiere of ‘A Moment of Truth and A Vision of Hope’ was given by Music In Mind and an ensemble from the RLPO at the Liverpool AAC Exhibition Centre on 29th November 2024 as part of the Expedition One climate change conference. The project, commissioned by Culture Liverpool, was a collaboration with the European Space Agency who provided the satellite film footage.

The final 2 months of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 also saw the filming and creation of the ‘Voices of Hope and Peace project, based on the stories of the Ukrainian population fleeing their homeland at the start of the war and settling in the North West of England. Workshops and filming sessions were delivered in 5 locations throughout the North West, including Liverpool, Manchester and Bolton. The performance was live streamed on Monday the 24th February 2025 to mark the 3rd anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. It was promoted and live streamed to the UNESCO Music Cities through Culture Liverpool and has received a number of subsequent performances, including as part Liverpool’s European Festival in May 2025 at the University of Liverpool.

## **Music in Mind CIO Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Music in Mind CIO For The Year Ended 31 July 2025**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Music in Mind CIO (the Trust) for the year ended 31 July 2025.

## **Responsibilities and Basis of Report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent Examiner's Statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and contents of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
