## **Trustees' Report** 

The Trustees present their report and accounts for the Year ended June 2023. The trustees of The  Apostolic  Church  (Lawna)  Manchester 172, Gainsborough Avenue,  Oldham,  have  the pleasure of presenting the annual report for the purposes of section 45 of the Charities Act 1993 together with the accounts for the Year ended 30 June 2023. 

## **Legal and Administration** 

The Charity is governed by its constitution and subject to the regulation of the charity commission. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice' Accounting  and  Reporting  by  Charities'  issued in March 2005, in preparing  the annual report and financial statements of the Charity. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Charity is constituted as an association of members. The trustees are appointed and reappointed at the annual general meeting. The daily activities are run by the members of the presbytery and vetted by the board of trustees. The trustees have also incorporated the Charity Commission's  guidance  on public  benefit, particularly the  specific  guidance  on charities for the advancement of religion. The significant risks to which the Charity has been exposed have been assessed, particularly those relating to the specific operational areas of the Charity and its finances. The Trustees believe that by monitoring reserve levels, ensuring controls over the key financial systems and examining  the  operational  risks  faced  by  the Charity, they have established effective strategies to mitigate those risks.

## **Vision & Objectives** 

The Apostolic Church (Lawna) Manchester is an assembly of The Apostolic Church, an organisation with a presence worldwide. 

The Charity's main objectives are: 

- The advancement of the Christian religion in the UK and worldwide for the benefit of the 

- general public and alleviation of poverty. 

- The teaching of faith in accordance with the bible  • The promotion of religious harmony 

- Promoting accurate  information, mutual understanding and respect for the belief in 

- practising different faith. 

## **Activities for the Year** 

In pursuit of these overall objectives, the Charity operates a Centre for Christian worship located at 172 Gainsborough Avenue, Oldham. In addition, we engage in other communitybased activities, with all our programmes and meetings open to our immediate community and the public at large. 

One of our major activity was to provide support to migrants just arriving the country. We supported them in accommodation, job opportunities, food bank, physiologically and morally. We visited and encouraged them, providing useful tips and guidance on how to navigate their way in the city. 

As an assembly, our motto is One-fold and One shepherd, this expressly encapsulates our focus  that  we  as  believe in oneness and equality as the  basis  of  spiritual  and  societal relationships creation  of  God.  We  also  believe  everyone  must  be  valued  and  shown compassion so they can be enabled to live life to the fullest. Through promoting Christian values and ethics, we focus on the family, young, old, elderly, children and all disadvantaged members of society. Our firm belief is that the family unit is a microcosm of society and. Thus seek to ensure Christian family values so that all members within the unit is assisted to be each other's keeper as Christianity teaches. We seek to; furthermore, we encourage this strong family and societal  values by encouraging the  Christian culture  of faith,  prayers  and  other  spiritual  support  at our  daily  prayer  meetings,  Sunday  services, Tuesday bible study, Friday Prayer Meetings and several other programmes and Christian festivals.

We had training in operating multimedia equipment and musical instruments for members who are interested in learning. 

We had a health and wellness talk by health practitioners from the Oldham Council and the NHS. 

We held special services to celebrate the Mother’s Day in March and the Fathers Day in June, we also had a service dedicated to celebrate the children in May. 

We observed the Christian Celebrations and Festivals: Easter Celebrations in April and Christmas Celebrations in December. A Christmas carol and dinner was organised on December 18 and  a special New Year Eve celebration on the 31[st] December to usher in the New Year. 

## **Achievement and Performances for the Year** 

In September 2022, we had a annual anniversary and thanksgiving of the Church with invited ministers of God from outside the country and music ministers within the UK. The 3-day programme was attended and opened to people from outside the Church and many lives were blessed. 

The Church continued to hold church services where intercessory prayers for the United Kingdom were raised, and teachings on staying home and safe were highlighted. 

## **Plans for the Future** 

We are looking into how to sustain and expand our community action activities with the Police,  Old  People's  Homes,  Hospitals  and  other  charitable  organisations  in  and  around Manchester. We  will continue our  ongoing  plan for  our  place  of  worship  by installing modem  communication  and  computer  equipment  for  training  purposes,  which  will  be open to the community. In addition, we plan to procure better children-friendly play and education materials for the Children's Church. We plan to start a nursery and day care services to help with childcare issues of the members of the community and the public at large. 

We plan to hold out reaches to our community within the city centre in a bid to foster inclusiveness, diversity, equality, care and compassion to humanity. 

We plan to hold community engagement meetings and trainings for members of the public on different aspects that relates to their welfare and well being. 

We  plan  to  continue  holding  faith  and  religious meetings,  youth  games  and  services, distribution of faith literature and expanding faith educational facilities for all age

## **Financial review of the Year** 

Donations received during the Year were £64,352.38, and £58,390.79 was spent on Charity activities. The Assembly prepares her account on a cash basis, i.e., receipts and payments. The account under review is for the Year ended 30 June 2022. The full report is presented on page 6. Total receipts within the period total **£64,352.38.** This amount comprises all collections of  tithes, offerings, and  special contributions.  The total expenditure was £ **58,390.79,** including the Church's regular running expenses. In addition, the Church incurred expenses on its construction work of the place of worship, which required a lot of renovations and extensions and the purchase of some musical equipment. Where necessary and within our means,  tire  church has  offered  financial  support  through donations  to  members  and members of the public who are in need and have approached this organisation for help. ## **ACCOUNTANT REPORT** 

**Independent Examiner report to the Trustees of Apostolic church (LAWNA) Manchester** I report on the accounts of the Trustees of Apostolic church (LAWNA) Manchester for the Year ended 30 June 2023. 

## **Expected responsibility of Trustees and Examiner** 

The Charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity trustees consider that an Audit is not required for this Year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act to follow the procedures laid down in general directions given by the charity commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of Independent Examiners Report** 

My Examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the charity commission; an examination includes review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in accounts and seeking of explanation from you as trustee concerning any such matters. 

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would require in an Audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and report is limited to those matters set out the statement below. 

## **Independent examiners statement** 

In connection with my examination, **NO MATTER** has come to my attention 

1. Which  gives  me  reasonable  cause  to  believe  that  in  any  material  respect  the requirement to keep accounting records and in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act and to prepare account which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act **HAS NOT BEEN MET** or 

2. To which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the account to be reached.

1. Accounting policies 

   - a. Basis of Preparation 

The account has been prepared under the historical cost convention on a going 

concern basis in accordance with the SORP 2005 and accounting standards. 

- b. Incoming Resources 

Fees (Tithes) and donations are included in the statement of Financial Activities when received by Charity. 

- c. Depreciation 

Depreciation has been provided at the following rates to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives.

   - d. Expenditure Recognition 

      - Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or contractive obligation committing the Charity to pay out resources 

   - e. Management & Administration Expenses 

      - Includes all expenditures related to and not directly associated with Charity's charitable activities.
