## **Trustees’ Report** 

The Trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended June 2021. The trustees of The Apostolic Church (Lawna) Manchester 172, GainsboroughAvenue, Oldham, have the pleasure of presenting the annual report for the purposes of section 45 of the Charities Act 1993 together with the accounts for the year ended 30 June 2021. 

## **Legal and Administration** 

The charity is governed by its constitution and subject to the regulation of the charity commission. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice ‘Accounting and Reporting by Charities’ issued in March 2005, in preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charity. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Charity is constituted as an association of members. The trustees are appointed and reappointed at the annual general meeting. The daily activities are run by the members of the presbytery vetted by the board of trustees. The Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, in particular the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion has also been incorporated by the trustees. The major risks to which the charity has been exposed have been assessed, in particular to those relating to the specific operational areas of the charity and its finances. The Trustees believe that by monitoring reserve levels, by ensuring controls over the key financial systems and by examining the operational risks faced by the charity, they have established effective systems to mitigate those risks.

## **Vision & Objectives** 

The Apostolic Church (Lawna) Manchester is an assembly of The Apostolic Church, an organisation with presence across the world. 

The charity’s main objectives are: 

- The advancement of the Christian religion in the UK and worldwide for the benefit of the general public and alleviation of poverty. 

- The teaching of faith in accordance with the bible 

- The promotion of religious harmony 

- Promoting true information, mutual understanding and respect of the belief in practice of different faith. 

## **Activities for the Year** 

In pursuit of these overall objectives, the charity operates a Centre for Christian worship located at 172 Gainsborough Avenue Oldham. In addition, we engage in other communitybased activities, with all our programmes and meetings are open to our immediate community and the public at large. As an assembly, our motto is One-fold and One shepherd. This expressly encapsulates our focus that we as a people believe in oneness and equality being the basis of spiritual and societal relationship as creation of God. We also believe everyone must be valued and shown compassion so they can be enabled to live life to the fullest. Through the promotion of Christian values and ethics, we focus on the family, young, old, elderly, children and all disadvantaged members of the society. It is our strong belief that the family unit is a microcosm of the society and thus we seek to ensure Christian family values so that all members within the unit is assisted to be each other’s keeper as Christianity teaches. We seek to encourage this strong family and societal values by encouraging the Christian culture of faith, prayers and other spiritual support at our daily prayer meetings, Sunday services, Tuesday bible study, several other programmes and Christian festivals. 

## **Achievement and Performances for the Year** 

In September 2020, we had a virtual annual anniversary and thanksgiving of the church with invited ministers of God from outside the country and music ministers within the UK. The 3- day programme was a virtual event and opened to people from outside the church and

many lives were blessed. 

We also organised a face-to-face event in April 2021, where COVID-19 Sensitization Awareness was discussed with the invited church members and the Black community of Oldham. The event was a success and believed the right message was passed to the guests to combat the disease. 

There was an open Soup Kitchen event that was organised in the church premises while the lock down was eased in Feb. 2021 to reach out to the poor and needy in the Oldham community where we had foods and drinks available and had competent ministers to help the people with any advice or prayers. 

In June 2021, Home Kit for lateral flow COVID-19 testing training was held in the church premise to highlight the importance of continue self - testing with the home kit made available to the people free of charge. The event was a great success has we had a reasonable number of attendees. 

The church continued to hold a virtual church services where intercessory prayers for the United Kingdom was raised and teachings on staying home and safe was highlighted. 

## **Plans for the Future** 

We are looking into how to sustain and expand our community action activities with the Police, Old People’s Homes, Hospitals and other charitable organisations in and around Manchester. We plan to continue ongoing plan on our place of worship with the installation of modem communication and computer equipment’s for training purposes, which will be open to community at large. We plan to procure better children-friendly play and education materials for the children church. 

We plan to continue holding faith and religious meetings, youth games and services, distribution of faith literature and expanding faith educational facilities for all age 

## **Financial review of the Year** 

Donations received during the year were £36,338.05 and £28,964.95 was spent on the charity’s activities. The Assembly prepares her account under the cash basis i.e., receipts and payments. The account under review is for year ended 30 June 2021. The full report is presented on page 6. 

Total receipts within the period totals **£36,338.05** this amount comprises all collections of

tithes, offerings and special contributions. The total expenditure was £ **28,964.95** including the church regular running expenses, the Church incurred expenses on its construction work of the place of worship, which required a lot of renovations and extensions and the purchase of some musical equipment. Where necessary and within our means, tire church has offered financial support in form of donations to members as well as members of the public who are in need and have approached this organisation for help.

## **ACCOUNTANT REPORT** 

## **Independent Examiner report to the Trustees of Apostolic church (LAWNA) Manchester** 

I report on the accounts of the Trustees of Apostolic church (LAWNA) Manchester for the year ended 30 June 2021. 

## **Expected responsibility of Trustees and Examiner** 

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity trustees consider that an Audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act to follow the procedures laid down in general directions given by the charity commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of Independent Examiners Report** 

My Examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the charity commission; an examination includes review of the accounting records kept by the charity and comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in accounts and seeking of explanation from you as trustee concerning any such matters. 

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would require in an Audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and report is limited to those matters set out the statement below. 

## **Independent examiners statement** 

In connection with my examination, **NO MATTER** has come to my attention 

1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirement to keep accounting records and in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act and to prepare account which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act **HAS NOT BEEN MET** or 

2. To which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the account to be reached.

Notes to the Financial Statement for The Year ended 30 June 2021 

1. Accounting policies 

   - a. Basis of Preparation 

The account has been prepared under the historical cost convention on going 

concern basis accordance with the SORP 2005 and with the accounting standards. 

- b. Incoming Resources 

Fee (Tithes) and donations are included in the statement of Financial Activities when received by charity. 

- c. Depreciation 

Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives. 

Fixtures & Fittings  15% straight Line 

- d. Expenditure Recognition 

Liabilities are recoqnised as soon as there is legal or contractive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources 

- e. Management & Administration Expenses 

Includes all expenditure related and not directly related to the charitable activities of charity.
