## **AIM & OBJECTIVE** Special Children’s Trust UK aims to reach out in love, offer hope and restore dignity to children with special needs in East Africa. This is achieved by accepting donations and child sponsorships from individuals mainly in the UK, USA and Germany, which is then distributed to those in need. We operate with the mandate to raise awareness of the plight of children with special needs and to raise funds to support the practical work done by organizations and charities based in East Africa. ## **ACTIVITIES & PARTNERSHIP** The charity we are currently working with is Special Children’s Trust in Uganda. Our role includes: - **Child sponsorship –** We raise awareness of children in Uganda with special needs who need to be sponsored for education and wellbeing. The school we are working with is Dawn Children’s Centre in Kampala, where children with and without special needs who vary in their stages of development, learn together. Individuals who decide to sponsor make monthly payments into the account, which is then transferred to SCT Uganda twice a year (June/November). Our sponsors receive yearly updates and photos of the child they are sponsoring. - **Project donations –** SCT UK accepts donations on behalf of non-profit organizations like SCT UG. In 2020 we received donations towards the construction of a new mobility hub in Kampala, Uganda, and Christmas hampers that were assembled and distributed to struggling families with special needs children. The charity also received a large donation of £3,522.08 from the USA specifically for the Forever Home project. As a charity however, there are also other financial roles such as: - **General donations –** donations are received by the public with the aim to fulfill our mission. In 2020 these general donations were used to support special needs families who were suffering as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. An announcement was also shared in order to raise awareness and collect donations specifically for these families. - **Parcels –** the charity uses donations to purchase sensory toys and books for special needs children in Uganda. In 2020, boxes were sent via Parcel Hero and Lontex to Kampala full of Report Date 1 **TRUSTEE’S ANNUAL REPORT** _1/1/2020 – 31/12/2020_ sensory toys and equipment for children, which were then used in schools for therapy and practical training. The cost of delivery is covered by donations made to the charity specifically for post, with the shortfall covered by general donations. - **Amazon Smile –** Amazon Smile works in partnership with SCT to raise a small percentage of profit every time a buyer makes a purchase online.
