CHAIRMANS REPORT 13[TH] OF FEBUARY 2025
To start I would like to say that last year was less eventful than the year before and unfortunately we still suffer from dwindling membership but we still have plenty of committed members of the group and I would like to thank the members for all there hard work over the year as without there help we would not be able to continue our work within the community and the wider area.
I did hear that the friends of Bradfield had folded because of lack of members and shows how important the members are.
On this note I would also like to thank the members of our conservation group who every month work hard to tidy the hill and have added to the beautiful environment of Wincobank hill by planting more trees and wildflowers.
I would also like to thank the Brigantes whose hard work and dedication have seen us go to Malton museum last year to spread the word of Wincobank Hill.
Last year was a quiet one but we were present at a lot of chapel open days as well as the heritage open days.
We had a number of speakers that include myself, we had the archaeologists from AOC with the results of the archaeology which we will publish when we have the funds, and I will be put on the website with the DBA. We had David Templeman talk on Sheffield castle, Jonathan Jones with his book bugle boy and we had the friends of Portland works. I am currently working on speakers for future meeting but we will start in March with a talk by me on my research of the Brigantian border.
