## **Introduction** 

The Trustees present their report and financial statement for the year ending 2nd March 2021. This report is presented in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice, “Accounting and Reporting by Charities” (SORP), issued in March 2005. 

The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed according to the Constitution dated 19th February 2016. It was established on 30[th] August 2016. 

The CIO’s annual reports are published on the Charity Commission Website, with effect from the year ending 2[nd] March 2017. 

## **Statement of Trustees’ responsibilities** 

The Charities Act 2011 requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping sufficient accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. 

## **Organisation** 

The Trustees are: 

- Mr Brendan DUNPHY (Chair) 

- Ms Rutendo NYATSINE 

- Miss Anne WANKIIRI 

- Mr Masih AHMED (Finance) 

The Members of the CIO are individuals, corporate bodies, or representatives of Organisations that are not incorporated, who undertake to act in good faith to further the purposes of the CIO. 

The affairs of the CIO are managed by the Charity Trustees, of which there must be at least three. 

Decisions are made by simple majority of votes at a meeting of Trustees or by resolution made in writing or in electronic form and agreed by all Trustees. Induction of Trustees is overseen by the Chair 

## **Objectives and activities** 

“The prevention or relief of poverty in developing countries in particular but not exclusively by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, microfinance schemes and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be selfsufficient”

In exercising their duty, the Charity Trustees have reviewed that all of their activities have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission. 

## **Achievements and Performance - for the** 

## **year ending 2nd March 2021** 

Due to the challenges of Covid there is nothing to report. 

## **Financial review** 

We raised £500.00 during the year. This was from a single donation. 

## **Plans for FY 2021/22** 

The original plans for the year ahead have had to be postponed because of the continuing health crises, travel restrictions and general economic and social uncertainty. 

The chairman advised that he will be retiring from his role as of 1st August 2021.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is not needed.
