TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT

Of Accounts for the Period 01 April 2023 to 31 Mar 2024 (HMRC reference number 061000032920)

Rental income for this period is £13,565.00, the highest figure since the trustees took control on 01 November 2016. The small room is being used more often, but still has limited usage due to its size. Development and expansion of the site has been shelved for the moment.

Thanks to the on-going grant of £7,000 from Wellington Town Council, the cost savings achieved by the trustees and the cost-effective cleaning contract, the combined bank balances are a healthy £53,303.20. The trustees continue to carry out all management activities. This has allowed the trustees to hold the hire charges at the same rate for 5 years. But trustees agreed that hire charges should increase by £0.50 or £1.00 from June 2024.

We have had Solar Panels and a Battery System installed. This project was completed in June 2023 and was greatly helped by a £10,000.00 grant from Telford & Wrekin Borough Council. We have also benefited from the Telford Gigabit Project, which will ensure a faster broadband service. This has been provided by Telford and Wrekin Council.

The accounts have been audited, submissions will be made to the Charity Commission and HMRC as required. Also accounts, reports and bank statements will be forwarded to T&W Borough Council as agreed in the lease agreement.

We now have a modern projector and screen which is proving to be very popular with hirers delivering PowerPoint presentations and training courses. The external roller shutters have all been replaced and general maintenance continues inside the centre. The aim for the next twelve months is to continue to promote the centre and ensure it is well used by the community. The centre continues to host many events which have now become regular annual bookings.

Arleston Community Centre, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation was registered as a Charity on 18 August 2016 and, following negotiations with Telford & Wrekin Council, became responsible for the running of the Community Centre on 01 November 2016. The Trustees agreed that the first accounting period would be 01 Nov 2016 to 31 Mar 2017. Thereafter the accounting periods to be 01 April to 31 Mar.
