Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
In view of reduced overall membership numbers (especially women and juniors) and the current annual membership subs / match fee structure, our target for 2024 was to break even. It is therefore encouraging to be able to report a £1,251 surplus for the year. This is in no small part due to:
-
The Crowdfunder which was used to raise funds for our mower purchase pre-season. Although a lot of donations replaced membership income for player and juniors, we benefited from a £1,800 donation from Sport England and gift aid relief on the individual donations as a result of this activity;
-
A windfall surplus of £869 from kitchen/BBQ largely thanks to the great efforts of groundsman Stan Aspinall;
-
Fundraising activities (comedy night/book sales) driven by the newly formed fundraising subcommittee and Stewart Coates; and
-
Sterling work from the committee late in the season to collect unpaid senior match fees which allowed us to exceed our budget in this area despite losing a number of games to the inclement weather.

Report to the trustees of Stockport Trinity Cricket Club
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the year ended 31 October 2024 as set out on pages 6 to 7.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
have not been met; or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
