Review of the year (by our WKar)
The PCC Met bi-monthly throughout the year. The Standing and ￿nan￿ Committee
met between PCC meetings and infornwtion (draft minutes eto) from those
meetings were highlighted at the p￿ and discussed where necessary.
There continues to be a sense, articulated by manyi that we continue to move on
from some of the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, whith saw both the St Stephen's
and All Saints. congregations (fiminish signifKantly. Most of the church family have
now retumed to frdtrtrtrface servtces.
Over the la* year we have welcomed a significant nurnber of new members to our
church family• especialty in All Sainlg, which has b￿n very encourdging. Although
we can always finesse our welcome, I am heartened by the numerous comments I
continue to receive alx)ut how welcoming our church families are. A big THANK YOU
to all who share in this deeply important ministry.

It has been wonderful to have the Presen￿ of a choir among us again. The

play on ￿ndayS (Greg MaskalicK Lecky Ally￿￿ and Ele Feetham) alongside those
who have played for weddings and funerdls (fony Haryey and Ele Feetham). We are
deeply grateful for their willingness to lead, as and when they can. It was also with

We have continued to benefft from the newly refurbished All Saintg, OckbrooL The
space offers us flexibilty for our own worship services and events, alongside being a
space for community events: Local Electlon Hustingi a Wami Spa￿, a Ikmentia
Café and Shining Stsrs, our pre-school t<xldler groups, and youth events. We look
fO￿ard to contlnuing to develop All Saints, into something of a. comrnunlty-hub, and
recognise as we do tha¢ both the All Saintg and St Stephen's builLfings wlll need
continuing work and repair.
May 2024 saw the sale of the church hall (the Gord￿ La￿Y Hall) in OckbrooL I
watched the auction on4ine, with Zoe, whilst on hdiday. Following a rather slow
start, by the time the auctioneerfs gavd sounded, we were literally on the edge of
our seats. The sale price of just under £500,1)00 was incredible, and we give God
thanks for this resource. I am in process of convening a small group• representing
the breadth of our church family, and the churth centres, who will meet to

develop proposals of how ￿ should best use the rn(￿eY rtteived. It will then be for
the p￿ to agree on, and vote for, what ￿0p￿lS they think are besL Please pray
for this important and ongoing process.
Our Christrnas 2024 services and events had been planned ty a small group of
church family members, coordinated by Sue James. As a resul¢ we tried some new
COn￿pts- Blue Christmas (for those for whom Christmas can be a difficult and
painful time), Posada, Christsnas café, Carols by Candldight and an additional
Christingle service on thristmas Eve aimed at families under 5s. The PCC also
agreed to invest in some hlgh-qualty publiaty (with thanks to Ruth Green for
developing thls). We had some wonderful seThi￿ and events, and our numbers of
those attending We￿ up exponentialty on previous years. on￿ again, I would like to
offer a big THANK YOU, to all who wotl(ed so hard and prayed so long.
I end this snapshot of the last year wth a hearty THANK YOU to everyone who
contributes so muth to the life and witness, mission, and ministy of our church
family. The small army of seen and unseen volunteers, who w(xk tirelessly, deaning,
preparing refreshments, welcoming, stewarding our finan￿, looking after our
buildings, leading worship (induding the music group coordinator, Jery Anderson),
leadlng and preathing, reading, leading WO￿lp* praying, welcoming, and working

We also continue looking t(Hard the fuknre, as we *k to keep in * with the

around us here.
Thank you all for your encouragement and ￿pport for me thnjugh thts last year, my
24th year here. On Juty 2nd, 2025, it will be the 30th anniversary of my ordination in
Derby Cathedral. It continues to be a joy seeking to fulfil my cunEnt call as the Vicar

and the fellowthip of the Holy Spiii¢ be with us all, (2 Corinthiars 14: 14).
