## **THE DRILL HALL CHEPSTOW CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1168818 TRUSTEES REPORT 2023 - 2024** 

The Drill Hall Chepstow CIO was established in August 2016 to submit a capital asset transfer to the big lottery it was successful in the 1st round received a grant of £41,665 in October 2017 towards legal and professional costs. 

Unfortunately in February 2018 we were informed that stage II of the lottery bid had been unsuccessful. 

Chepstow Town Council holds the lease of the Drill Hall from Monmouthshire County Council and had yet to decide on the future governance of the hall and whether the Drill Hall CIO will have any role in the management of the Drill Hall. 

The Drill Hall CIO was not active in the management of the Drill Hall during the year of this report but held discussions with Chepstow Town Council. The charity advertised for, and recruited, new trustees in readiness for a possible transfer of the management of the Drill Hall from Chepstow Town Council to the CIO. 

(In 2024 Chepstow town Council signed a new lease for the Drill Hall with Monmouthshire County Council and offered to the Drill Hall CIO the opportunity to take full responsibility for the hall. The terms of the lease negotiated between the 2 councils were deemed unacceptable by the trustees of the CIO who considered that they would be taking on responsibilities that they could not sustain.) The Drill Hall CIO will be formally disbanded in 2024-25.
