## **Objectives and activities** 

The Main Objectives for the public benefit are: 

- -to advance the Sikh religion by encouraging and facilitating religious practice by existing followers or adherents through the provision and maintenance of facilities for the purposes of worship and related activities e.g. imparting religious education. 

- -to advance the Sikh faith by raising awareness and understanding of Sikh beliefs and practices through the teaching of religious scriptures (santhiya), Sikh martial arts (gatka), musical traditions (kirtan) and restoration of Sikh manuscripts (pothi seva). 

- -to advance the Sikh religion by encouraging and facilitating religious practice by existing followers and adherents for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, public celebration of religious festivals (gurpurabs) and the provision of religious material via the internet in order to provide spiritual benefit to its adherents and enlighten others about the Sikh faith. 

- -to advance the Sikh faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with the belief in the ten Sikh guru's and the eternal Sri guru granth sahib ji with the provision of spiritual guidance, free community food and kitchen (langar) and the provision of charitable gifts to achieve spiritual wellbeing and relief of poverty of its adherents and the general public. 

The Main activities undertaken for the public benefit were: 

- providing events of worship so that members of the public can visit and attend ceremonies such as recitals of Sikh prayers. 

- educating and explaining the Sikh faith to individuals attending events e.g.  children and young persons 

- providing free food (langar) prepared by volunteers for people to share regardless of need, religion or social standing 

- providing spiritual and religious guidance from the holy granth, learned Sikh priests and providing Gurmukhi classes to individuals requiring this need. 

- the charity provides music classes. 

- the charity provides opportunities where volunteers both young and old can contribute towards community work e.g. by preparing and serving food. 

the trustees and management committee in running the charity have consulted and have had full regard to the useful guidance issued by the charity commission on public benefit.

## **Achievements and performance** 

The main achievements of the CIO in the period were: 

- the charity has organised major celebrations of festivals (gurpurabs). these have attracted people from all over the country who have been inspired by the charity’s’ work and online presence.  in addition to this the charity has held programs twice weekly since inception. the charity ensured the charity events were adequately staffed and functioning as required throughout the year. 

- 

- the charity has held monthly children's prayer and activity workshops. these events have proven 

- to be extremely successful. 

- 

- the charity has continued traditional stringed instrument lessons on a weekly basis open to children and adults. they have sourced and commissioned a world-renowned teacher who has commenced classes in the Dilruba, esraj, harmonium and sarangi. 

- 

- the charity has continued with providing facilities and funds so that both Gurmukhi and musical classes can be held. 

- 

- the charity has continued the provision of food, clothes and other essential items to the vulnerable and disadvantaged through service of monthly food banks and donations of items. 

- 

- the charity has continued to donate funds both in the UK and overseas to assist the disadvantaged through food banks, education and religious services 

## **Financial review** 

The Reserves at the year-end totalled £27,966 and were in the current bank accounts. Reserves were maintained at their level as to ensure funds were readily available for expansion of charity works. Reserves are also maintained to fund working capital and to fund shortfalls in charitable income when income does not reach expected levels. 

## **Further financial review details** 

The CIO relies on donations and offerings from its members and the public. It is recognised that donations and offerings can fluctuate from year to year. The trustees aim to ensure that the CIO has sufficient resources to continue its activities and meet its obligations to his end, it is considered prudent that sufficient liquid funds are maintained. The CIO does not involve itself in any speculative investment activities and ensures funds are always kept safe and secure.

**Report to the trustees of** SRI AKAL BUNGA SAHIB TRUST INTERNATIONAL 

**On accounts for the** 31 December 2023 **Charity** 1168805 **period ended number** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the period ended 31 December 2023. **Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in **basis of report** accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trusts’ accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to **examiner's statement** my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

- • the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities Accounts and Reports Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
