Achievements and performance
The Priest in Charge the Reverend Alan Symonds retired in January 2022.
During 2022 a return to a nornial schedule of services and meetings w&s wannly welwmed
by the congrcgation.

Worship and Prayer
We try to offer a range of s¢ryices ea¢h month on both Sundays and weekdays which b¢nefit
our community and provide spiritual input.
The Sunday service consisted of a mixture of Euoharistic and non-Eucharistic worship a1
I lam. During th¢ week we again hold a mixture of Communion and Worship services. The
Saturday morning prayer meetings have restarted wherc a group m¢¢t tog¢th¢r to pray for the
needs ofthe parish and the world. We also held fellowship groups which met regularly and
provided bible study, teachin& prayer and discussion to build up our faith. A Prayer Circle is
rnade up of 61 members from the Conbrye8ation. Benefir¢ and th¢ town. Urgcnt requests are
irculated to these members requesting Prayer for need, individuals and their families.
All are welcome to attend our rc8ular services. At present there are 113 Parishioners on the
Church electoral roll. In the last year sAdly 7 have died, 3 have moved but 3 have joined. The
average weekly attendance counted through October was 69, slightly up on the last year and
the membership has also increased to 79.
As well as our re8ular seryices we like to ¢nable our community to celebrate and thank God
at the milestones of the journey through life. Through baptism we thank God for ihe gift of
life, in ma)Tiage public vows are exchanged with God's blessing and through ￿neral services
friends and family express their grief and give thanks for a life now complete in this World
and to comm¢nd th¢ person into (h)d's keeping. We have celebrated 3 baptism4 2 weddings,
and supported families throu8h 19 funerals during 2022.
Pastoral Care
There is a team from the Benefice who help prepare farnilics for Baptism and Weddings. Our
retired Clergy support the Bereaved. We also hav¢ the c￿Ing Hands group who provide lifts
to Medical appointments or other needs and the Shepherding Scheme which provides pastoral
care for those on the electoral roll. We run lea and chat sessions in conjunction with the other
churches in the Benefice for those who found it difficult to get out.
Children and Young People's Work
We work regularly with the King Ina C of E Academy, who are now fimily estsblished in
their single building. We provide colle¢tive worship through the Clergy and thc Open the
Book Team. Foundation directors are provided to sit on the Academy's board. After a gap of
two years we were pleased to welcome the Academy into church for their Christmas Carol
service.
Specific outreach activities
During the year the soGial activitie5 were again severely curtailed as a r¢sult of Covid-19. Th¢
Saturday coffee mornings w¢r¢ restarted and during the Christmas peri(KL wc hosted a Carol
service for the town.

Financial Review
2022 has again been an unpredictable year but wc are slowly returning to some sort of normal.
We are grateful to the congregation who continued throughout 2022 to maintain their regular
giving. The 2022 receipts were £76,433 against payments of £89,077 meaning that we are in a
2022 unrestricted deficit position of £12.644. The 2022 balance sheet now shows unreslTided
reserves of £22,966 so we should be financially viable for at least the next two years, based on
our rurrent level of receipts/paymenls, However it As hoped the number of weddings will
increase and additional ￿nd raising will be undertaken to reduce the deficit An 2023. The PCC
is also actively exploring ways of generating addilional incomc using new technology.
We are also extremely fortunate to have Church Lands Trust who for 2022 cov¢red payments
such as insurdncelenergylrepairs and maintenance to a total of £13,221 included a
pressurisation unit for the boiler at A ¢ost of £2.608.
Reserves Policy
Our curr¢nt r¢servc5 policy aligns with the Diocese view that reserves should be set at 3
monihs expenditure. From our 2023 budget that figure will be £22.269. Our unr¢stri¢ted
reserves at th¢ 1° January 2023 stands at £22,966.
