The tntstees present their retM)rt with the financial statements of the charty for the year ended 31 March 2024.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTtvrrtES
Objectives and aims
The objectives of the British Boer Goat Swi¢ty {h¢reaft¢r Tef¢rr¢d to as BBGS) are as follows:_
The promotion of agriculttwe for the public benefit by the encourdgemenL promotion and improvement of the Britlsh
Boer GoaL and encouraging the breeding of British Boer Goats.
The main objective of the BBGS for th&s period was to continue promoting the breed through education in managernenL
welfare, marketing and showing.
The BBGS has had to address the changes that Brexit has introduced into the livestock and agricultural world in general.
The ongoing eff￿t of Brexit is ever changing and the BBGS is monitoring these Changes closely with the protection of
the breed standard and the membership at Its core.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable aetivities
Show competitions were undertaken at four shows. namely the Royal Welsh Agricultural Spring Festival the Royal Three
Counties Show. Staffordshire Agricultural Show and Hanbury and District Countryside Show. All shows were well
attended both by exhilyitors and the public. The foothall and interaction with the public regarding the goats was
tremendous at all four shows.
One of the world's leading intemational judges judged the National Breed Competition at Royal Three Counties Show
and provided insightful and educational talks to both members and the public.
Members were offered a reduction in entrance fees to the alx)ve shows too &$ Part of the educational programme. This
will be offered again for the 20?4 showing season.
The BBGS website has been updated extended extnsively and is routinety W with infotmatioo competition results
and photographs.
Throughout the year there has been an increased effort in developing the BBGS'S online p￿senCe with both member only
and public Facebook pages.
Competition results and photographs are now W)$t￿ on the day of the competitio
Show videos are posted to Facebook, YouTube and on the website.
The BBGS organised and oversaw two sales of finished meat goats at the Melton Mowbray livestock market and
Worcester cattle market. The sale w&8 open to any goat keeper bui only BBGS members were eligible for rosettes and
cash prizes for the best and reserve carcass on the hoof, judged by the relevant auctioneer's representative.
A range of infonnative banners to promote the Boer Goat at events have been produced.
A series of informative trainin(p videos from the UK'S leading goat vet Mr. David Harwood MRCVS have be made
available for the membership. In addition the authoritstive Goat Health BIK)k by David Howard that complements the
training videos have been sent to all members.
Monthly newsletters are sent to all members.
An excellent newly illustrnted breed standard booklet h&$ been printed and made available to existing and new mernbers.
