BRITISH BOER GOAT SOCIETY

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The objectives of the Society shall be to register and maintain the improvement of the British Boer Goat Breed and to promote the breed to farmers and the wider population. The Charity is also involved in the promotion of the British Boer Goat through showing and knowledge sharing events.

The Charity aims to promote agriculture for the public benefit by the encouragement, promotion and improvement of the British Boer Goat and to encourage their breeding.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

The committee remit is to provide a society which enables all its members to benefit from knowledge sharing, whether they own two goats or two hundred. By providing opportunities to learn about the Boer goat breed we will enable breeders to have a better understanding of the standards required, providing them with knowledge to assess their own goats.

Most breeders will already be categorising stock into show or cull groups. Shows and training days will further empower breeders to decide which faults are acceptable to breed out through a selected breeding programme.

The BBGS is continuing to promote Boer goats at shows with new displays and literature. Shows are advertising everyone’s goats through the competitions and we have had shows applying to hold Boer classes.

Our aim is to hold knowledge sharing days in different parts of the country utilising the knowledge of a range of experts thereby providing a balanced view of the breed. The society will also utilise the AGM to provide talks on a variety of aspects of Boer goat keeping.

Aims Of The Committee

Improve understanding of the breed by knowledge sharing Organize knowledge sharing days in various parts of the country Organize shows and advertise the breed more widely Organize stands at shows where there are no competitions Form a working party of committee and society members to promote the sale of Boer goat meat.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF BRITISH BOER GOAT SOCIETY

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of British Boer Goat Society

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of British Boer Goat Society (the Trust) for the year ended 31 March 2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
