## **Chairman’s Report 2022** ## **The Park, Kilnwick** ## Charity N[o] 1168729 Once again, The Park has con;nued to flourish and remains a focal point for outdoor village ac;vi;es. A large marque was purchased and immediately put to use for the Christmas event held in The Park. A monthly run around the perimeter has been established and con;nues to be well supported. A family fun day was held as part of the jubilee celebra;ons with picnics and games for all, with the tug of war appealing to all genera;ons! At the recent AGM, all trustees agreed to stay on for another year, with a broad range of ages and young families represented. Financially, The Park charity remains in a sound posi;on. The Park itself is star;ng to look like a playing field surrounded by woodland as the (approximately 1000) trees planted are shoo;ng up and filling out. The grass itself is looking very healthy and the pond area is maturing nicely and aSrac;ng wildlife. A number of bird boxes, large and small, have been placed around The Park and it is hoped that this will increase the diversity of bird life in the vicinity. A bike pump track with a series of earthen mounds has been created. More work is planned for next year and this feature is expected to prove very popular with children in the village. The on-lead dog walking area has been extended to include the perimeter of the playing field in response to requests from villagers. A commemora;ve bench has been placed near the picnic area and some stone ;le carvings, made by the youth club, have been placed around it. The play equipment inspec;ons and maintenance is an ongoing ac;vity carried out by trustees to ensure that a visit to The Park is safe and enjoyable. A recent ROSPA inspec;on was carried out with no significant adverse findings. The Parklings youth club again successfully applied and was awarded a Posi;ve Ac;vi;es Grant from the local authority. Some of the ac;vi;es held include a nature ramble, a boat race in the local beck, a sports day and Easter craXs.
