This was an important year for the charity, as we commemorated its 2Cth anniversary. The oecasion was marked
with many celebratory events throughout the year, Including the unvelllng of specA8lly commissitin8d 8riwork,
designed by ourArnbassador, Welsh a¢tisl Nathan Wybum. Another hi9hpoint saw many iconic Welsh landmarks
illuminated blue, a symbolic reminder of thg n88d to raisa awarengss of prostate C8ncer and to open Ihe
conversation around prostate health.

We looked lo￿ard to a year of celebralions. and o full calendar of events, as we commemorated our 20th
anniversary year.
We continued to monrtor our overheads ensurirvJ we kè8p thes&. and op&ratlon81 wsts to a minirnum. However,
the investrnent in our awar&ness prOgraMff￿ increased to meet the renewgd dgrnand for workplace lalks. driven
by an increased awareness r3mp8ign aThJ strategic approach lo expanding wr corporate partnerships and
networklng Opportunities. We are grateful lo our many Friendship groups who are key lo its Su￿$$. both In
planning and implgmgntatlon.

Prostate cancer is m05t common cancer in men, with over 2,500 baing diagnosed every year in Wal88. The
risk in rnen of beirrfj Lliagnosed Is 1 in 8 and indications are that the risk is increasing.
Our pledge is to ir￿mSe awareness and Unde￿tandIng of both prostale Cancer and proslate disease amongst
the Welsh population Bnd provide a source of advicè and support. This work continues lo be 8 priofTty, 8d8Pted
accordingly to accomrnodat8 the indiwdual needs of busin9559s and communities.
There has bÈ8n a shift in wot*ing practlces with less employeos working from hom•, and empk)yers ncreasing
the nurnber of offi¢e*8sed days, renewin9 the demand for the workpL4¢e pr￿n￿￿"On$ and aWa￿nesS stands.
Our engagement with local communitiès increased aided by Ihe delivery of our bespoke Mobi￿ unlt and th9
L9unch ol our outreach programme.
The charity w8$ abl8 to retain a strong inLyJme level, with a slight Incwse of 7.5% on the previous year, whth is
commendable given the curr8nt financial dimate and pressure on the individu81's purse strings. In addition to the
obwous fmancial benefit, fundraising events play a huge part in ra5sing awargn&88 and sgcurfng ftJbJTe suppcwt of
individuals, groups and corporat8 partners.
We also mainlained a strong position in tsms of communlcatton and PR, Improving the numbers reached and
evident from the ewKouraging and positive messages received. Our advtcè linè and assessment fcffm
played a valuable role forthostr with health concems or undergoiro IreatsnenL
The Frlendship Groups have been outstanding, with wular meelings. social gatherings and fundraising events
plotteil throughout the year. We now have 5 estsblished groups, CardffF & Vale. Camiarthanshire, CeredvJion,
P8mbrokeshire and Glamoigan.

Early discussions have taken place with groups in Monmoulhshire and Brecon, and we are hopeful that these wlll

The event proved as popular as ever wlth reoord numbers turning out to support tho gfforts of thelr local
Frfandship Group and community.
We 8re a180 gratsfvl to th¢ many individuals and trKJsinesses whu adapted the trad￿lDn$ of the walK by c¥eating
their own mardthon 26 milè walks whelher acTOSS one day or spread throughout the month.
The social media interaction as a result was not only a rnajor contributory factor to th8 fundraisiig èfforts but
m8d& a huge differen(e in raising awarer*ss ofthe f8¢ts and risks of proslate cancer.
To further endorse our 20th year of operation, wè béeamè th8 charty pather of the Oji Pcrthcawl 10k.
Throughout the p8st two decades Prostate Cyrnru has had a strong associalion with thè area and had recenuy
launched a new friendship group which also covers Porthcawl. We were gratefvl to all our runners an(J volunteers
who made rt such a successfvl and memorablg day.
The FN8 Valleys Switve in August, was supported by 200 cyclists who tc(l( on the chaI￿ng1rrfj route from
Margam Park, ts¢kllng the steep dimbs of the Bwlch and Rhigos mountains. Competitors battkd thr￿gh Ihe
e￿rn￿nts inGludin9 heavy rain, mist and winds, supported by the 8rrny of volunteers who ensured the route was
well signposted, with strateglc stops s(*ttered throughout offering refreshmènts 8nd mechanical 8sslst8nce.
As has b8ccffi8 the custom in Novgmber, Big Breakfasts were held throughout the month, to rnlse lun<b lor
Prostote Cymru and promote prostale health and aw8rgnèss. Al Friendship Groups embraced the initiaDve
hosting many breakfasts In each county. Our thanks lo them 8nd ev9ryon8 who took part, contribulirrfJ to a total
of rTh)re th8n £45.0(KI.
We are also privileged to work closely with many voluntary organisations such as Rugby Clubs, Rotary Clubs,
Golf Clubs. Cycling Club$ and Masonic Lcmjges who have chosen Prostate Cymru as the bgnèfieLqry for th8lr
fundraising efforts. We would also like lo thank them for thg OPFN)rtunity to addre55 their membership to r8is9
awar8n8ss of the charity's work and highl￿ah1 thè risks and frdcts of prostale disease.

photos sent in by those who have been dIag￿Sed with proslats cancer, those working on thg frontline lo improve
servic%s for men in Walos, fundraisfrrs an¢J thgse who have lost loved ones to the disease.
We wore grateful to S4C who filmed the evening as part of tho Welsh language programme, Y Sgubor

Thè partnership is a major contributary factor in driving traffic to ￿Jr social rnedia channèls. wth craativè and
Interacfjve video o)ntent plawng a key role in ￿aChIng new BUd￿nceS. Prostote heath messages rwJularfy

Glamorgan Cricket, anolh8r high sporling organbsation, nominated Prostale Cymru as their Ghosen charity
at the T20 match against Hampshire al Th8 Gnoll, in August. Our thanks to the N&ath Cricket Club for m8king
thls happen and giving us another opportunty to promote prostate health to our key male audience.

hugè int8r8st. However, this did not come vrithout its challengas in t8mis of r8sourcè and logislics. We are
grateful to our drivers. awareness volunteers and friendship groups for their commitmènt, wlthout their support it
wouk* not have been possible lo deliver suth 8n 8mkMtDUS 8cheElule.

appoint a dedicated member of staff to manage DUI outreach and awareness programm•s and walcomad

boostèd tha numbers of new followers, with 8 particular thanks to our ambassadors and corporate partners for

therefore we rety on the generostiy and support of Ind￿Idual fundraisers and donors. The incom8 d￿ved from

We applaud and acknowlod9& the hard work and ugativlty of the staff whose enthusiasm and cornmitrnEnt
g•nerated the remaining 40% of revenuè, resulting from the centrally organi8ed community events, such as The
Big Walk, Five val￿YS Sportive, running series, dlnners at)d go￿dayS.
We 8r8 also fortunate to have the commitment of our volunl88r fr￿ndShiP groups who suprxyl the key events.

Tho pressure on the NHS services continugd. with the unrest amongst nurses and doctors resuhing in
unpr8￿1&nted strike action, which was well documènted. Ttrwe dlfficulties led to a di8ruption in seMc8s, and
inevitably a bse￿o9 in patient care and diagnosis.
Whilst we remain￿1 own to dialogue with the urology departments across Wales, given Il* fin8n(x81 and
D￿ratIonal difficulties within the NHS, a review w85 undertakèn to ensure that agreed projects remained viable
and achievable. The movement within th8 designalod funds rgfte¢t t￿se adlustrnents, with efforts C4)ncentrated
on projècts th8t will have a positlve Impact and are wlhin the charity's ¢ontrd to doliver.

more avenues to raise awareness and encourage thosa potenlially life.saving conversations. An earty diagnosis
saves lives. Caught in its early stages, proststs cancer can be cured.
For this r8ason, il is more important than ever that aw8ren8ss T8mains 8 key fc£us. It is one of the most effective
parts of the charity's work and makes a real dnTerence to the live8 of men in Wales.

offering a favourable setting to encourage qugslons and genero1 discjjssion. Our trained team of volunteers

Our advice will ahvays be to seek advice from their GP, however, in light of the feedback we havfy sel 88iJa
funding to support the intrc*Juction, on a trial basis, of PSA testing days. in association with the Graham FulfoTd
charIta￿e Trust.

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are reccgnised once tho ¢harity has been nobfied
