Appointment of Trustees
Number of charity trustees
(a) There should be not less than three (3) nor more than fourteen (14) appointed trustees;
(b) There must be at least three charity trustees (3). If the number falls below this minimum, the remaining trustee or trustees may act only to call a meeting of the charity trustees, or appoint a new charity trustee.
No trustee appointment may be made in excess of these provisions.
Chairing of meetings
The charity trustees may appoint one of their number to chair their meetings and may at any time revoke such appointment. If no-one has been so appointed, or if the person appointed is unwilling to preside or is not present within 10 minutes after the time of the meeting, the charity trustees present may appoint one of their number to chair that meeting.
Trustees shall elect from amongst themselves a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer, who shall hold office from the conclusion of that meeting

Cholrpornon'• R•port lor 202412025 This report is for the financial year from 1° October 2024 to 30 Septsmber 2025. In September 2024 a map appeared in the Shed showing new plans for the Sergeants Me$$. This was funded by money from the Arts foundation and the Herrtage &xiety was not grven any space on it, despite the fact that we had been allo¢ated rooms in the original plans. This was very upsetting and it appeared we had been forgotten aboutl Initially we were offered the green room in The Shed. but this was too Small and too expensNe. However, we were then offered rooms by the Community Trust in the old Fire Station, which we were delighted to a¢GepL We have met at the Forest Communty Centre during this Autumn and l am now delighted to say that we have taken a lèase on the northern wing of the old Fire Station on Station Road, which is to become a Community Hub. We hope to be moving in by the end of this 2025 year. I wouhj like to thank all the Trustees for their dedicated efforts to make this possible. September 2024 proved to be very wet and we were due to join the DVT in their Woodland Fair and to tak8 a stall at an event in the Hogmoor Indosure. As our stall meant most of the games were placed on the ground this was not possible in the wel, and we Could not tske part. In June we took part in th6 Blessing of the Bowor buift by tho DW staff and the children of Woodlea School on the Walldown Monument. Our usual Gilbert Whrte was unable lo attend so a volunteer from the CommLtnty Centre actors read trom the relevant piece from The Natuial History of Selbome instead. The Bower was blessed by the As$i$tant Curate Rev. Kate Lloyd-Jone$. This year 2025 was the 80th Anniversary of Iwo everts from 1945. In May for VE Day, the Society pffjpared an Exhibition in the Bordon Library and an evening presentation in Whitehill Village Hall followed by a beacon in tho grounds. For the Secrets of the Healh. the Heritage Society was asked to give a talk about the use humans had made of the Hogmoor area from Mesotthic times to the present day. Bill had been allott the BeehNe for this talk which he gave to around a dozen visitors who arrived for the event. In July the Society had been ¢onta¢ted by a Canadian lady. Morganne, who was researching her grandfather. She was visiting thi$ ¢ountry in Juty to lo¢ate the pla¢e$ he had been in WWII. She was going to Chichester first to see where he had been placed initially and then wanted to see where he had been used at an antaIrCraft srte18ofors) in Hogmoor. We collected her from Llphook station and took her to the Bofors Site, which 1$ well labelled, in Hogmoor. After various photos we had lunch in the Café and then took her to Farnham Station to catch a train to take her to London. Apparenty her grandfatr*er had followed the trcry8 after D Day and joined batteries in France. For VJ Day in August, Linda Delve, one of our Trustees, was asked by the Town Council as Deputy Mayor, to raise the flag in the Town Square. The flag wtth VJ Day 80 was repeated al the Shed where Paul put up our Gazebo together with an exhibition of photos from 1995 and Linda read her speech once more. On Sunday 17th August, Hogmoor Inclo$ure was celebrating VJ Day with visiting jeeps and other military equipment. The Society had a gazebo there and Chris Abraham led a walk to the site of the Bofors Gun Emplacement. We prepared an exhibition for the library to ¢elebrate the 250 annrSary of the writing8 of Jane Austen. The Wl are making tapesty of her lrfe to augment the exhibition. The final event of the year was to join with Hampshire Field Club to look at the places visited by Mrs Barl¢)w, Victorian archaeologist. who had visited our Bronz8 Age barrows in connection with Nathanial Prettijohn, who was the warder and lived in Woolmer Pond Cottage. He had asked his blacksmith to dig into the barrows and in doing so located the Woolmer Um (from tho Bronze Age), which thrilled Mrn Badow when she saw it. Chris Wain. General Report
1. The Society
The governing document of the Society is the Constitution, formally accepted by the Trustee’s with effect from October 1[st] 2016. The Society has been in existence, prior to having charitable status, since 1983.
2. Objectives of the Society
The objects of the CIO are to advance the education of the public in the history of Whitehill and Bordon and neighbourhood in the district of East Hampshire by maintaining an archive of artefact, document, digital and photographic material and to foster archaeological fieldwork, excavation and historical research.
3. Education A display cabinet is available to the public in the local library. It has a removable section to enable examples of artefacts to be taken to public events locally.
4. Community
The display cabinet in Bordon Library, with the assistance of the Library Staff, has been used for exhibitions about different aspects of WWII, including Gilbert White, Jane Austen and VE and VJ Days 80 years on
5. Public Benefit To facilitate the raising of the public’s awareness of their local heritage, the Society maintains a series of lectures and events open to the public as well as maintaining the display in the library.
6. Talks and Events
Many of the talks this year were given by members of the Society which attracted a new audience. The display in the Library, as at other venues in the town, demonstrated the local connection with VE and VJ celebrations. A Field Walk on Slab Common ‘found’ several items and a joint meeting with Hampshire Field Club visited the sites explored by the Georgian Archaeologist Mrs Elizabeth Barlow at The Slab and Woolmer Pond Cottage
7. Press and Publicity
Many Society activities were posted on the website. Events are posted on the Facebook page to ensure the Society retains a place in the digital community.

9. Reserves
The Society maintains a General Fund sufficient to cover six months operating costs
10. The Year Ahead We aim to maintain and develop the profile of the Woolmer Forest Heritage Society, both for the benefit of the local community and furthering the knowledge of the heritage in our area. We continue to look for premises in which we can hold, identify and conserve local finds. The Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust have taken on the lease of the Edwardian Fire Station and offered the North Wing to the Society to lease as a Heritage Centre. The Society has accepted this offer and hopes to move into the new premises in late 2025. We intend that our Society’s contribution towards the life of the local community will lead to a greater awareness of Whitehill and Bordon’s heritage and sense of place.

The Chair wishes to thank all the dedicated members and volunteers who have supported our Society over the past year. She extends her thanks to the Officers and Trustees of the Society without whose help and support the success of the Society could not be maintained.
