OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITIES

Summary of the Objects of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document

The objects of the Charity are to advance education in accordance with the principles of the Church of England for the benefit of the community served by the Oxford Academy in particular by:

a) assisting and supporting the education of students at the School including the provision of awards, prizes or other rewards;

b) relieving the financial hardship of pupils and ex-pupils of the School by the provision of bursaries, scholarships, equipment or in any other way the Trustee thinks fit to enable them to pursue their education;

c) providing grants or other financial assistance to assist pupils in financial need to undertake extra-curricular activities (including educational travel in the United Kingdom or overseas);

d) providing or assisting in the provision of services or facilities at the School not provided for under the Funding Agreement;

e) fostering closer ties between the School and community , including promoting education in the community served by the School.

Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity’s Objects

Once the funds from the existing unregistered Endowment Fund for the Oxford Academy established by a Deed of Gift and Declaration of Trust dated 1[st] September 2010 have been transferred to the Charity the funds will be used to support the community served by the Oxford Academy particularly by assisting those pupils who are from poorer backgrounds to access areas of school life e.g. school trips, music and other extra-curricular activities where charges can be made consistently with the publicly-funded nature of the school. It will also support pupils going on to mainstream educational provision in the FE and HE sections after their school career.

Support for the wider community includes classes to enhance adult literacy and numeracy and understanding of their children’s education so as to enable them to support their children’s education more effectively.

ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE

Statutory Declaration

The Trustees declare that they will once the funds are received comply with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Commission in exercising their powers and duties.

Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year

The Charity did not receive any receipts or payments during the year under review.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Part 8 of the Charities Act 2011 requires the Trustees to prepare Financial Statements for each financial year to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of the profit or loss of the Charity for that period. In preparing those Financial Statements, the Trustees are required to:-

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with Part 8 of the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safe-guarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

As the Charity is dormant and awaiting the transfer of the funds from the Oxford Academy Endowment Fund created on 1[st] December 2010 there is no requirement for an Independent Examination.
