represented on tlic management committee. In an effort to mainiain a broad skill mix. members
of il)e managemcnt ¢()mmitt¢e are requestcd lo provide an outline of Iheir skil1.8 and, in ihe event
of particiilar ski118 bcingT lost due to retircmcntq, individuals al'e approached 10 i)Ifer tl)emselv¢b

accepted, can thereafter function OD the commillee as co-operative member.
At the fivii Annual General Meeting following this. the members of the charity vote on whether
to accept the co-opied member as full trustees.

the charity may be exposed.

and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.

Visits made to the Scrapstor¢-. 9,429 members of the publi¢ visited the Scrapstore dui'ing the
yeai.. 1,732 baskcts and 699 Trolleys of non-priced creative resources were collected from the
Scrapslore by our members and Customers during the ￿rIOd ISI April 2022 - 31, March 2023.
Waste diverted from landfjll.. 393 tonnes of redundan¢ reusable material8 wcre diverted from
landfill back into re-use for the benefit of the local community and ai the same time protecting
the environment.
Community Repaint Scheme: 3,096 litres of paint were passed on to local people and
community groups. thu5 savinb? the environment by diverting toxic waste from landfill.
Office Fui'niture Reuse Project: We redistributed 200 items - approximately 25 tonnes of
reusabl¢ offiLe luriiilure t(} Ii)cal school%, chltrities. small businesses and community groups.
Project Reboot: We redistributed 220 refurbished ¢omputers and laptops to local ¢i)mmunity
groups and people on low incomes wh() otherwise would not be able to afford to buy a
computer. We also prnvided volunteering oppo.rtunities supp()rting 12 voluntcers on the l.T
project
Scrappers Boxing Cvym & Community Fitnes5 Centre.. provides a¢¢ess io fitness and boxiiig
skills ai low Lost to all members of.lhe community nf Swindon and surrounding areas aged 5 to
100. We workcd directly with 1,364 young people aged 5 24 y¢ars aiid 1,870 adulis agcd 25
years and above.
Volunteerin% Opportunities Project: The smooth running or Ilie Scrapstore operations is
facililaied by a regular tcam of32 volunteers.who help to deliver vital project rolcs: including
reception. shop, stock prcpardlion, shell'_filling, driving ilie van, helping with collections,
adininislralion aiid ihc operation of IT and network system5.
VoluDteer in Kind Support: We provide regular volunteering and work placement
opportunities for 32 r¢Rular volunteers each year. they work on averagc 18 hours each per
week ovcr 50 wLeks this provldes us wilh 28,800 hnurs i)r volunteer in kind support per year.
In addition, we accept referrals from the Swindon Probation Service lo provide ¢()mmunity
payback where offendcrs work on projects to pay back the comimunity for their ¢rimes.
Financial Review: Last year grant funding was reduced as our aim wa4 to become less reliant
on graiits by increasingy our self-generated income, In ihc Lurrent year 98 /0 of income was
gcneratcd compariiig this with the previous year'5 figure of 880/0. this shows thal we are making
good progress in meeting our goal of becomin8 self-sustainable.

Reserves Polic
The l-rustees believe that tli¢ charity should hold sufficient financial reserves to faciliiatc the
winding down of ihe ¢h8rity's oper¢ltions in the event of the charity ¢easing to operate on a
permanent basis.
To achieve this, the charity's policy is to have unrestricied funds amounting to between tliree to
six months of expenditure.
Plans for Future Periods
The Irustees are focussed on the iieed to seek sustainable funding for the provision of our service
in Swii)doii and see this as a main pi'iorily throughout the year alongside Coniinuiiig to recruit,
develop and support our volunteer w(Irklor¢e.

I. ACCOUNI'ING POLICIES
A). Ilasis of Aceounting
The financial statements have been prepared under the Historical Cost Convention and in
ac¢ordance with the Standard of Recommended Practice applicable to charities pr¢paring
their financial siatement in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1st January 2015).
B). Financial Reporting Standard 102- Redueed disclo$ure exemplion
The charity has taken advantage of the following disclosure exemplion in prcparing ihese
financial Statements, as permitted by FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard in the
UK and Republic of Ireland"

C). Voluntary Income
Voluntary income is received by way of donations and grants and is included in full in the
inLome and expenditure account when rcceiv¢d.
D). Donthtions in Kind
'I'he charity is fortunate in the level of support il receives from ils volunteers. Without this
voluntary supwrt, Considerable expense would be incurred. It is noi thought meaningful or
practicable lo put a monetary value on the suP￿rt but the committee is grateful to those
who provide it.
E). Grants
Grants receivable and payable are included in the financial siatements when received or
paid. Where grants are received or made for a defined period any amounts relating to a
period extending beyond the charity's accounting date are deferred.
F). R¢%tricted and Unrestricted Funds
I'he financial statcmenls distinguish between restricted and unrestricted funds.
The former funds arc r¢c¢ived from donors and are subject to restrictions on the purposes
for which they may be used. Unrestricted funds a￿ those where ihey are no externally
imposed reslriciions. They include ihose freely available to ikne charity for expendilure or
appropriation to reserves for internally designated purposes.
C.). Design*ted Funds
I'he truste¢s have decided to sct up a designated fund to all￿ale monies towards the
acquisition of a property. In allocating funds to the designated funds the trustee5 will
ensure that adequate funds are maintained in restricted and un￿strICted funds to enslbre the

Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure
includes any VAT whi¢h cannot be fully recovered. and is reported as part of thc

Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income.
Charitable eX￿ndItUre comprises those costs incurred by the charity in ihe delivery of its

Glyvernance costs include those costs associated with mttting the constituiional and
