## **Introduction**

One Ummah, which loosely translates to one world and one community, was put together with the hopes and dreams of bringing the world’s communities together and uniting against poverty. We are a not for profit organisation that provides humanitarian assistance aid to those most in need around the world. 

Our staff and volunteers are from the heart of the community, they are the backbone of One Ummah and are vital in all its deliverables. 

In addition to providing immediate relief to those in need, we also focus on empowerment projects that give beneficiaries the opportunity to transform theirs and their families lives for the better. 

With our assistance, beneficiaries are given the skills and tools to craft a better life away from the misery of poverty. 

After eight years of life-saving work, we have expanded greatly, with the recruitment of volunteers, employment of staff and establishing offices across the UK and abroad. 


All thanks to the blessings of the Almighty Allah. 

Without the mercy of Allah first and foremost, and then the generosity of our amazing donors, we would not be able to benefit millions around the world every year. 

May Allah reward and accept the deeds of every single person who was a part of our journey and those who continue to support our work.

## Trustees and organisational structure 

One Ummah is an international humanitarian aid and development organisation. 

In its previous incarnation, One Ummah Charity was established in 2013, and registered on 20th December 2013. It was governed by a constitution as an unincorporated association. 

The Board of Trustees (herein also called “Trustees” or “The Trustees”) direct and oversee One Ummah Charity in accordance with its statutory obligations and policies. Focusing on strategic planning and governance, the Board also sets out strategic priorities and objectives, with the goal of alleviating poverty and its underlying causes. 

The charity was incorporated into a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation (‘the new CIO’). Assets and liabilities belonging to the charity were transferred to the new CIO (effective from 2nd August 2016) and the charity formerly known as “One Ummah” was renamed “One Ummah Charity”. The previous incarnation of the charity ceased to operate on 31st December 2016 and was subsequently removed from the Register of Charities (‘the Register’). Since its registration, the new CIO has been known as “One Ummah Charity” (1168565). ‘One Ummah Charity’ was renamed ‘One Ummah’ by a resolution passed by the board of trustees on 31st August 2021. 

The Constitution defines One Ummah’s objects as being: 

The Board of Trustees appraises the performance of the Senior Management Team (SMT) against both strategic and operational objectives through reports, meetings and other interventions as required. The Trustees also approve new policies and procedures. 

When new trustees are appointed, they are given a formal induction to the work of One Ummah and are provided with the information they need to fulfil their roles, which includes information about the role of trustees and charity law. New trustees are nominated by members of the Board of Trustees, interviewed by a panel of three Trustees and appointed where they have the necessary skills to contribute to One Ummah‘s management and development. 

## Chief Executive Officer 

- a) To assist in the prevention or relief of poverty anywhere around the world by providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and or charities, or other  organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty. 

- b) The advancement of the Islamic religion for the benefit of the public in areas of poverty and hardship. 

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of One Ummah Charity including staff management on behalf of the Trustees. The Senior Management Team (SMT) headed by the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the implementation of the strategic and operational plan and the day-to-day management of One Ummah Charity 

- c) To advance education by the provision of financial or other assistance, for the benefit of the public in areas of poverty and hardship. 

- d) To advance health by the provision of financial or other assistance, including medicines, hospitals, and other means, in each case for the public benefit anywhere in the world.

## Risk management 

All significant activities undertaken are subject to a risk assessment as part of the initial activity evaluation and implementation. Major risks are identified and ranked in terms of their potential impact and likelihood of occurring. 

Major risks, for this purpose, are those that may have a significant effect on: 

- Operational performance, including risks to our 

- personnel and volunteers. 

- Financial sustainability, including stability 

- and security of income. 

## 100% Donation Policy 

One Ummah Charity operates a 100% donation policy. This means that every penny received by us is spent on the specified cause - with no deductions taken for administration, such as overheads and advertising. 

This does not include online transaction charges by third party payment gateways that are deducted before a donation is received by us. 

For example, if we receive £30 towards a food pack, then the entire £30 donation will go towards the food pack and in ensuring it reaches the beneficiary. Our donors can be assured that One Ummah Charity exercises diligence in how funds are handled and spent in accordance with how they are donated. 

- Achievement of our aims and objectives; or 

• Meeting the expectations of our beneficiaries or supporters. 

The Trustees review these risks on an ongoing basis to satisfy themselves that adequate systems and procedures are in place to manage the risks identified. Where appropriate, risks are covered by insurance. 

The following framework is central to ensuring adequate risk assurance: 

- Regular monitoring of major risks and development of action plans; 

One Ummah raises funds for its administration costs in the following ways: 

Admin Fund: A specific fund where donations can be made directly towards the administration costs. 

Gift Aid: Any gift aid claimed on donations will be used for the administration costs. 

Textile Recycling: One Ummah Charity operates clothing banks where textiles are collected and sold to exporters to generate income. 

Sponsors and Donations: Business sponsorships are sought for brand awareness on our website, digital and social media platforms. 

- Embedding risk identification and assessment 

- within operating procedures; 

• A clear structure of delegated authority and control; 

- Review of key systems and procedures through 

- internal audit arrangements; 

• Income and profit targets for our trading and fundraising activities; 

- Maintaining reserves in line with set policies; and 

- Regular summary reports on risk management to 

- the Board of Trustees.

## Reporting public benefit 

The Trustees confirm that they have read the Commission’s Guidance on Public Benefit (including PB1, PB2, PB3). One Ummah is compliant with the public benefit requirement under the Charities Act 2011. Our work only involves activities that advance our charitable objects and benefit the public. This can be seen in the many humanitarian activities highlighted in this report such as emergency aid or education support, which benefits the public by saving lives and reducing poverty among populations in need. 

## Reserve Policy 

One Ummah has a policy that sets the level of general reserves such that it meets our operating expenses in the event of a sudden drop in income or the incurring of unexpected expenditure. This policy is regularly reviewed, assessing risks and reflecting changes in factors such as income and also our financial obligations and commitments. Such a review was undertaken in 2021, and the current target level of reserves of six months’ of the core operational budget was deemed to be sufficient at the time. These funds are held in current and medium-term cash forms. 

In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to: 

- Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently; 

- Observe the methods and principles in the 

- Charities SORP; 

- Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements, and 

- Prepare the financial statements on a going 

- concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. 

The Trustees are responsible for keeping sufficient accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of One Ummah Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. 

## Trustees’ responsibilities in relation to the financial statements 

The Trustees are responsible for preparing an Annual Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards including Financial Reporting Standard 102: The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). 

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of One Ummah Charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of One Ummah Charity for that period. 

They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of One Ummah and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. The Trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the corporate and financial information included on One Ummah’s website. 

Legislation in the United Kingdom governing the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other jurisdictions. 

The Trustees declare that they have read, understood and approved the report.

## Peace be upon you all. 

I would like to begin by thanking all the donors. It is through your donations that we have been able to save many lives and ease the suffering of countless families around the world. 

I would also like to extend my thanks to the staff, who ensure day-to-day activities run smoothly, and who have been at the forefront of delivering vital lifesaving aid on the ground. 

Finally, I would like to recognise the volunteers. The difficulties imposed on us and many other organisations due to Covid-19 restrictions forced us to adapt. However, it was the volunteers who were the backbone that propped us up by persevering in fundraising activities, organising community events and being engaged day to day with One Ummah. Alhamdulillah, we are proud to say that our volunteers are the heart and soul of our communities, and I would like to thank them all for their dedication to the cause. 

Despite the difficulties One Ummah has experienced, our team was able to keep the various appeals going in several needy countries including Yemen, Syria, Gaza, Uganda, Pakistan, India, Somalia, and many more. 


Having strategically hired and more than doubling the team, the compounding growth of One Ummah has paved the way for the implementation of numerous campaigns including emergency disaster appeals, food distribution programmes, sponsorship of orphans, water projects and distribution of lifesaving winter aid, education and medical services. 

As a board, we are constantly strategising to maintain our 100% donation policy. We continue to value your trust very highly and guarantee that every penny you donate will be spent to support the cause/ project towards which you have generously contributed.

## **Message from the Chief Executive Officer**

Bismillah as-salaatu wassalamu ‘ala Rasool-Allah, Firstly, with the will and permission of Allah, in whose hands One Ummah’s success rests, we are pleased to present to you the 2021/2022 annual report. It is with His generosity and mercy that One Ummah is able to assist/support those in need around the world. 

Societies worldwide have seen a great deal of suffering and poverty over the past year. One Ummah has actively responded to a number of these crises, including natural disasters, ongoing conflicts and the global Covid-19 pandemic. One Ummah has now expanded into over 16 countries, offering a more diverse range of programmes while strengthening its global footprint. 

One Ummah was able to facilitate multiple programmes all over the world, including food packs, hot meals, water and sanitation, hygiene kits, winter packs, mosque builds, orphan sponsorships, sustainable projects and zakat distributions. One Ummah has further solidified its presence in Africa and with the will of Allah, has benefitted hundreds of thousands of individuals and spent millions of pounds within the African continent alone. In addition, One Ummah always strives to provide aid for beneficiaries in the hardest to reach places, including Yemen, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. 

By the permission of Allah, One Ummah continues to sustain its financial growth and is going from strength to strength, year upon year. As a result, millions were able to benefit from your generosity, with a countless number of lives being saved. To sustain this growth, One Ummah continues to recruit individuals who add value to their respective departments while maintaining our robust systems and procedures and preserving our 100% donation policy. 


Finally, as our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Charity extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire” [Ibn Majah]. 

We at One Ummah pray that it be an expiation of sins for those generous individuals who donated for the sake of Allah, and may it weigh heavily on their scale of good deeds. Without our beloved donors, sponsors, partners, and those who provided kind words, advice, and valuable feedback, the success of One Ummah would not have been possible and more importantly, those in need around the world would not have benefited. 

It is our deepest gratitude to you for being an instrumental part of the growth of One Ummah and being generous with your time, talent, and resources.

## Yusuf Chambers 

Yusuf is a humanitarian aid worker and da’ee. He has travelled around the world with One Ummah since 2018 delivering emergency aid to thousands of people including the Rohingya in Bangladesh and the Syrians in Turkey and Lebanon. 


## Yusha Evans 

Yusha is a famous da’ee calling people to Islam. He is one of One Ummah’s supporters and has travelled from the USA to the UK a number of times to fundraise for One Ummah’s life-saving campaigns. 


## Abdur Raheem McCarthy 

Abdur Raheem is a very well known da’ee and Islamic speaker. He has toured the UK with One Ummah delivering beneficial reminders to Muslim communities and helping to support One Ummah’s fundraising activities worldwide. He has also travelled to Uganda and the Uyghers providing aid.

With the help of our donors, we were able to reach over 1,987,802 beneficiaries, in 16 different countries with over 12 different programmes. 

Despite the challenges of the global Covid-19 pandemic, our partners around the world rose to the challenge to ensure that the work continues.

## **SYRIA** 10 YEARS OF PAIN

Humanitarian aid is the only source of survival for millions of Syrians and those on the Syrian border after almost 10 years of hardship, suffering and persecution. 

One Ummah is working tirelessly on the ground during this challenging situation to save as many lives as possible. 

Syria is in a dire situation. The death toll is rising every day as people struggle for food, water, shelter, medication and blankets. 

One Ummah Charity has been providing aid in Syria for over 9 years, both within the country and at the borders. This is because more than 3 million Syrians have fled persecution, suffering and torture. 

Insha’Allah, with the support of our generous donors, we hope to continue to assist Syrians in their many hardships.

## **GAZA** 

## THE CONFLICT CONTINUES

## 21,000 beneficiaries were provided with clean water 

Gaza is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, with more than 2 million people living there. Most of the population lives below the poverty line and depend on your donations to stay alive. In Gaza, One Ummah Charity team is working tirelessly to save as many lives as possible. 

In violation of international law, the Gaza blockade (which affects all three spheres of the Gaza Strip) violates fundamental human rights. Agricultural land and fishing waters are restricted, as are imports and exports, as well as the movement of people in and out of Gaza. 

The infrastructure and vital services in Gaza have deteriorated and Gazans are unable to provide for their families. 

Measures were taken in June 2010 to ease the blockade, but the humanitarian situation remains extremely fragile. Although imports have increased, they are still less than 40% of pre-2007 levels. 

The Gazan economy is unable to access its traditional markets in Israel and the West Bank because exports are tightly controlled and restricted to agricultural products in Europe. 

Land and sea access remain severely restricted.

## **YEMEN** ON THE BRINK OF FAMINE

Yemen’s civil war has disrupted the majority of the country, leaving 24.1 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. 

Yemen is suffering “the biggest famine in modern history” as children are dying at a rate of one every 75 seconds, the head of the UN food agency warned. A total of 85,000 children have already died as a result of malnutrition and millions more are at risk. 

It is One Ummah Charity’s mission to save as many lives as possible in dozens of war-torn areas throughout Yemen. 

As far as humanitarian crises and aid operations are concerned, Yemen remains the largest in the world. This crisis is the result of an escalating armed conflict six years ago. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed and injured, and the Yemeni people have suffered greatly as a result. 

Without life-saving aid, the ongoing violence and lack of access to food and medicine threaten thousands of lives. 

Relief from hardship for orphans, displaced families, and widows remains a monumental challenge.

## **ROHINGYA** 

## 1 MILLION REFUGEES

## 4,560 families benefited from our food packs 



Approximately one million Rohingya Muslims have fled persecution, torture, rape and death in Myanmar. 

Thousands of Muslims lost their lives during the brutal crackdown and many were forced to cross the border with nothing but their clothes. 

One Ummah Charity is supporting Rohingya refugees in Myanmar and Bangladesh, where many live in squalor. 

A number of UK teams have been sent to meet with the Rohingya and provide them with food, water, medication, shelter, blankets, clothing, bedding and education. 

It is our prayer that Allah will deliver our Rohingya brothers and sisters from the radical regime under which they are confined.

## **LEBANON** RISING POVERTY & HUNGER

Lebanon has not been the same since the Beirut disaster. Lebanon has been suffering from a compounded crisis for nearly two years now, starting with the economic and financial crisis, followed by COVID-19 and then the August 2020 explosion in the port of Beirut 

One Ummah Charity has been assisting Syrian refugees alongside Palestinian refugees on the ground for five years. Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese beneficiaries have been helped by many of our UK teams in Lebanon. 

We are currently handing out food packs, winter packs, hot meals and sponsoring orphans in Lebanon. 

One Ummah Charity has worked tirelessly to support our brothers and sisters in Lebanon.

## **UGANDA**

In Uganda there are refugees from these eight African countries: South Sudan, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Rwanda, Eritrea, Sudan and Ethiopia. 

Each of these countries has suffered a civil war within the past 30 years, and most have suffered one within the last two decades. However, many of those who lived through those trying times are still alive today. 

Through water wells, masjids, Zakat, Qurbani, orphan sponsorship, medical aid and emergency food aid, One Ummah continues to support the people of Uganda. Alhamdulillah, One Ummah has provided aid to approximately 40,100 beneficiaries through the unwavering support of its donors.

## **FEEDING THE NEEDY**

Food is a basic human right of which no individual should be deprived. The sad reality is that we live in a world where many have no access to food or water. However, we can go a long way in reducing world hunger. 

Every Ramadan, millions of men, women and children around the world go hungry and are unable to fast simply because they cannot afford to eat. One Ummah Charity organises community iftars for hundreds of thousands of people across several countries.

## **ZAKAT** 

THE THIRD PILLAR ...................................................... 

## 8,006 people in 8 countries benefited from our Zakat programme 

Zakat is 2.5% of a Muslim’s income and savings after they have provided for their families. As with the five daily prayers, it is an obligation, not a choice. 

One Ummah Charity distributed your Zakat to those who needed it most during a year filled with hardships. 

Across 8 disaster-affected countries, your Zakat contributions have been used to provide people with food, money and emergency aid. 

The Zakat contributions you have made have answered the prayers of many thousands of destitute families. Throughout the year, these vital donations have kept them fed, nourished and sustained as they rely solely on humanitarian aid to survive. In our capacity as Muslims, this is the least we can do. 




Allah says in the Qur’an: “And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah.” [2:110]

## **ORPHANS** THEY’RE OUR CHILDREN

As a result of your generous support, One Ummah is caring for orphans around the world in Syria, Yemen, Uganda and ten other calamity-stricken countries. 

Just imagine sitting in Jannah and drinking water from Rasulullah’s hands at Al-Kauthar’s basin! These rewards belong to those who take care of precious orphans! 

Our hearts are full of love for our orphans. A tragic fact is that millions of orphans around the world are suffering as a result of natural disasters, war and poverty. 

Our future depends upon these children. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, One Ummah has been able to care for 3,200 orphans. 

We provide food, water, shelter, medicine and education through our orphan programmes for these innocent children. 

One Ummah Charity is taking that extra step by: 

- Providing the orphans with school supplies and uniform; 

- Providing general clothes and shoes for the comfort of travel; 

- Providing Eid gifts and arranging activities to put the orphans’ mind at ease; 

- Providing mattresses and cushions so the child can have a good night’s sleep; and 

- Providing medication to enable the children to be healthy. 

One Ummah believes every orphan deserves a good life. Today, many orphaned children are left without the essentials to survive and lack the support they need. With the intensification of war, natural disasters and pandemics more and more children are left without fathers. The number of children under the age of five suffering from acute malnutrition in Yemen alone is estimated to be 2.3 million. Over the last decade, two million Ugandan children have become orphans. There has been a large increase in the number of orphans due to HIV/AIDS and financial difficulties facing families. 

It is critical for orphans to grow up in a safe environment. Taking care of the children and providing them with clean clothes, food, shelter and education ensures they are more likely to become valuable members of their community and to choose a positive career path when these factors are present. 


Over the past year, One Ummah provided one-to-one care to 3,200 orphans by providing them with food, shelter, education, medical treatment and clothing. 200 orphaned children have been helped by One Ummah in Uganda, while 400 children have been helped in Burma. 

Without your support, globally thousands of orphans are at risk of becoming victims of trafficking, gangs and house slavery. In addition to helping more orphaned children, One Ummah hopes to provide them with the care they need. 

The Prophet Muhammad x said, “I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be together like this in Paradise” holding his two fingers together. Sahih Al-Bukhari

**MASAJID** ........................................ 

## 7,800 beneficiaries had been given access to a masjid in their area 

We at One Ummah Charity are working continuously to complete mosques in countries where Muslims have no place to pray. 

Over the past 12 months, we have constructed masajid in Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Syria and Uganda. Alhamdulillah 

Besides the prayer area and the wudu area in the masajid we build, there is also an area designated specifically for women. 


Not only do these Houses of Allah uphold the communal obligations of Islam, but they also ensure that the next generation of Muslims can learn and practice Islam the way it should be.

## **DROPS OF MERCY** ............................................................................. 

## 210,574 people benefited from One Ummah’s water projects 

There are millions of people without access to clean water and thousands of children die from water-related diseases each year. 

## Families and communities are 

adversely affected by water scarcity. The struggle for a living forces parents to take their children out of school. 

Getting water for their families often requires women to travel miles. 

One Ummah has been working hard to ensure those in need of water have access to it, over 200,000 people have received water relief from One Ummah in the past year alone, Alhamdulillah. One hundred and fifty water tanks were provided to Yemen, providing clean water to 37,500 people and relieving pressure on many families to find water. 

One Ummah’s bore wells in Sierra Leone have provided abundant access to clean drinking water for over 4,987 people. In addition to not having to trek long distances to find water, women can now spend more time on other development activities. As a result, illness and disease caused by inadequate water or sanitation have been dramatically reduced, Alhamdulillah. 



Sa’d ibn Ubadah reported that he asked the Prophet Muhammad x, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf? The Prophet x said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet x said, “A drink of water.” Sunan al-Nasa’i 3664

## **GIVE CHILDREN A BETTER FUTURE**

2,000 children were given access to educational resources 


Families are anchored by their parents, and children look up to them throughout their lives. Do you know about the millions of children without parents and the 124 million who cannot afford an adequate education around the world? 

Since 2013, One Ummah Charity has provided food, medicine, water and, most importantly, education to people in 16 crisis-hit Muslim nations, including Pakistan, Somalia and Gaza. 

In the absence of education, these children will have a bleak future ahead of them. 

The Prophet Muhammad x said, “The best gift a father can provide for their child is an education.” Tirmidhi

## 149,625 beneficiaries were provided with Qurbani meat thanks to our amazing donors 

Alhamdulillah, One Ummah Charity performed Qurbani in 16 countries this year. 

Besides bringing smiles and happiness to over a million people in 16 countries, your Qurbani made Eid that much more memorable. 

On this special day, the Sunnah of Qurbani was upheld, and meat was made available to poor and forgotten Muslims. 

The Prophet Muhammad x said, “Whoever offers a sacrifice after (Eid) prayer, has completed his rituals (of Qurbani) and has succeeded in following the ways of the Muslims.” Sahih Al-Bukhari

We have audited the financial statements of One Ummah for the year ended 31 March 2022 on ‘pages 40 to 49. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice applicable to Smaller Entities). 

This report is made solely to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with Chapter 3 of Part 16 of the Companies Act 2006. Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the charity’s trustees those matters we are required to state to them in an auditor’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity’s trustees as a body, for our audit work, for this report or for the opinions we have formed. 

## Respective responsibilities of trustees and auditors 

As explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees Responsibilities set out on page 6, the trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view. They are also responsible for assessing the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern. 

Our responsibility is to audit and express an opinion on the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland). Those standards require us to comply with the Auditing Practices Board’s Ethical Standards for Auditors. 

## Scope of the audit of the financial statements 

An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error. This includes an assessment of: whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charity’s circumstances and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by the trustees; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition we read all the financial and non-financial information in the Trustees Report to identify material inconsistencies with the audited financial statements. If we become aware of any a pparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report.

## Opinion on financial statements

- give a true and fair view of the state of the charity’s affairs as at 31 March 2022 

and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure, for the year then ended; 

- have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and 

- have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011. 

## Opinion on other matter prescribed by the Charities Act 2011 

In our opinion the information given in the Report of the Trustees for the financial year for which the financial statements are prepared is consistent with the financial statements. 

## Matters on which we are required to report by exception 

We have nothing to report in respect to the following matters where the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 requires us to report to you if, in our opinion: 

- adequate accounting records have not been kept; or

## 1 Accounting policies 

## Basis of accounting 

The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) ‘Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)’, Financial Reporting Standard 102 ‘ The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland’ and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. 

## Turnover 

Turnover represents all income to the charity, the majority of which is donations but also from the sale of works. 

## Incoming resources 

All incoming resources are included on the Statement of Financial Activities when the charity is legally entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. 

## Gift aid 

Gift aid is recognised in the accounts when it is received by the charity. 

## Resources expended 

Expenditure is accounted for on an accrual basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. 

## Tangible fixed assets 

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life: 

Motor vehicles 25% p.a on reducing balance Fixtures and fittings 25% p.a on reducing balance 

## Intangible fixed assets 

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life: 

Lease premium Over 7 years on straight line basis 

## Taxation 

The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities. 

## Fund accounting 

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can be only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.

One Ummah Charity operates a strict 100% donation policy meaning all of your funds will be used to help the needy. 

We take the trust of people very seriously and guarantee that every penny we receive from you is spent supporting the cause or project to which you have donated. Meaning, if you donated for a water well, your money will only be spent on the delivery, construction, labour, contractors and materials required to build that well. Not a single penny will go towards administration, marketing or generating further funds, Alhamdulillah.

Here at One Ummah, we are always looking for special individuals who are passionate about helping those who are less fortunate around the world. We owe our successes to our amazing volunteers who have been so active throughout the years in helping to raise millions of pounds for worldwide projects which have saved countless lives. 

Our volunteers have been active in cake baking campaigns, homeless soup kitchens, charity challenges, organising and running inspiring talks and lectures, bazaars, charity fun days, eids in the park and many more.
