Trustees Report

Achievements and performance The year was characterised by the final phase and
culmination of our major project “Connecting Small
Histories”.
This project has given us a good foundation and
established a track record in delivering good quality
projects and outcomes. An exciting new heritage
project has been prepared, but we need to re-write
subsequent to one partner dropping out.
The level of major benefactor donations remained the
same. Whilst some increased support, others
reduced theirs.
Small donations remained at about the same level.
We have developed both an Associate Membership
Scheme (for communities) and an Affiliate Scheme
(for other organisations). Both are slowly gaining
some traction. More staff time is need to
development this.
Project activities during the year have been in line
with our level of income, ie. low or no cost.
Our ONE Shabbat event was again very successful,
following the same format as last year. This year we
offered partners various forms of inclusion in the
event on a sliding sponsorship scale. This was
enthusiastically taken up by many organisations,
allowing us to cover material costs and a significant
amount of event management time costs, which was
a financial improvement over last year.
Planning took place during 2021-22 for our first
National Conference to take place at the end of
October, for volunteers and educators providing
Judaism Talks to Schools and Groups. Planning was
carried out by a working group under the chair of
JSCN CEO. The conference will include all the
leading experts in this field. A Facebook discussion
group will setup to enable post-conference
discussions to continue.
The conference was conducted online and none of
the speakers are charging fees. JSCN will absorb
around £3,000 project management time. No other
costs are involved.

Achievements and performance (continued)
Subject to a good evaluation, another conference
on this topic will be scheduled for 12 months time.
Having established the value of the conference, we
will plan for sponsorship and donations to cover
costs.
Future applications are being prepared for both
another Heritage Project, and a bid for core funding
to National Lottery. We will also plan to recruit
additional major sponsors, and to encourage
partners to participate in our project through
sponsorship.
