JSCN also attends<br>the meetings of various community organisations to<br>represent and advocate for the views of our<br>communities.|

|**Contribution made by volunteers**|Volunteers have continued to contribute towards<br>raising awareness of JSCN and with the<br>development of the heritage project. This was with<br>the support of existing 8 volunteers, no new<br>volunteers were recruited in theperiod.|
|**Achievement and Performance**|JSCN completed its Awards for All project<br>“Podcasts” by successfully publishing 30 episodes<br>of Jewish TALK.<br>In February 2020 JSCN’s Director met with Chief<br>Rabbi Mirvis, who gave his full support for JSCN’s<br>work with the Orthodox communities.<br>A collaboration was formed with the History<br>department of Swansea University, who worked<br>with JSCN to write a project to identify the footprint<br>of the Jewish community in the UK “Connecting<br>Small Histories”. A grant bid to NTL Heritage Fund<br>for £73,200 was successful. The 12 month project<br>was able to commence on 01/04/2020 despite the<br>Covid-19pandemic.|

|**Achievement and Performance (cont…..)**|During 2019-20 JSCN’s Director visited various<br>communities across the country, including<br>Cambridge, Nottingham, Isle of Wight, Southampton<br>and Brighton.<br>The pandemic ended the possibility of in-person<br>visits.<br>Instead JSCN initiated weekly online group<br>meetings and attracted Leaders of small<br>communities stretching from Aberdeen to Exeter<br>and Belfast to Ramsgate.<br>The adoption of online meetings led to<br>unprecedented engagement with many other<br>organisations, and the ability for JSCN to take part<br>in Conferences, seminars and meetings across the<br>UK, Europe, Israel and the USA.<br>We also initiated an online Coffee-Break, to support<br>individuals by helping to alleviate isolation and<br>promote wellbeing.<br>We were able to attract additional financial support<br>from a small number of charitable trusts, along with<br>small donations from individuals.<br>The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on JSCN has<br>been to increase our workload by x4, through<br>increased accessibility and the imperative to<br>coordinate actions with other organisations in order<br>to share information on the pandemic and share<br>that with our community leaders.<br>JSCN’s Director has now embarked upon a<br>programme of professional development together<br>with building capacity, in order to cope with and<br>meet the new needs and expectations that have<br>resulted through increased engagement.|

**On accounts for the year ended** 30[th] September 2020 which are set out on pages 6 – 7. **Charity number: 1168499** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 30[th] September 2020. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of the report** 

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
