Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The Accounts for the year, which are prepared on a receipts and payments basis, show a surplus for the year of £1,486 (2023: £1,815). Membership fee income of £2,102 was received, a 1% increase over the prior year.

In April 2023, the Society held a 3-day Travel Writing Festival (TWF) as an addition to the programme of single speaker/author events held since its previous festival in 2019. This proved popular and it was decided to make the "Sherborne Travel Writing Festival" an annual event, with the 2nd such festival being held in April 2024.

The Accounts for the year to 31st March 2024 include income of £5,693 and expenditure of £5,659 relating to the April 2024 TWF. The April 2023 TWF, including receipts and payments accounted for in the Year to 31st March 2023 Accounts, generated a surplus of £1,479.
