The Trustees observed due regard to the public benefit required by the Constitution of the Society and the Charity Commission by planning to organise and hold events and activities in the Sherborne, Dorset area for people interested in literature in the broadest sense. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and therefore taking into account both Government restrictions on events and social gatherings and the overall health, wellbeing and safety considerations involved in arranging such events and the prospect that holding alternative events by social media (such as Summary of the main activities undertaken for the Zoom) was likely to be badly supported and loss making, the Society’s Committee decided not to hold any events during the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within year under review.
