The Ivindsor Boys. School Boat Club Ithe aubl Is a Charitable Incorporated Organlsation,
governed by a Constitution adopted on l November 2016. Under the Consritution, the
Club's objects are the further advancement of education of pugils at The Windsor Boys,
School (the School) by providin8 or assistin8 In the provlslon of rowin8 facllities, The Club
retalns and enjoys a dose association with the school.
Trustees may be appolnted ex officlo or by elertion at the Annual General Meetin8
IAGMI. The ongoin8 operatlon ol the Club 55 managed by an Executlve Committee
consisting of a Chairman, a Vice Chairman, a Treasufer. a Secretary and other elected
members. The Executive Committee meets on a monthly basis and theTrustees meet
twice per annum. The AGM is usually held in ottober each year,
The Club was deeply saddened by the passing of John Mumford on 29th December 2022.
On behalf of the whole club, the Trustees wish to express their deepest sympathy to
john's family and offer much gratitude for his valued. trusted and respecred service to
the Club durin8 his time as Trustee.
Operatlons
The Club provides equipment and coachin8 to enable young people aged 13- 19 to row,
and operates from beginner to international representational level. The Club is highly
respected In ihe rowing community and achleves considerable success, despite many and
varied challenges. throu8h the strong and inspiring leadership of the Director of Rowing
who instills a culture of dedicatson, focus and hard work auoss the Club.
The Trustees expfess their sincefe gratltude to the coaches, parents and other
volunteers, who have supported the membefs so well throu8hout the year, and whose
contribution to the runnln8 of the Club is Immense, and Is crltlcal to the ongoin8 success
ofthe Club.
The prlnciple sources of income during the year were contributions from the familles of
the boys who are rnembers of the Club. donation5 frorn alumni, incorne from fundraisln8
events, Income from one off grant applications, and ad hoc donations.
The main items of expenditure this year were coachir,g fees. regatta entry fees, the
mainienance and repair of equipment. the lurthef dewelopment ol the Mike Tovell
Trainin8 Centre and, where funds have been specifically raised, the purchase of new
equipment.
The Club continued ro search for and complete a number of grant applicailons. With
thanks to a small and dedlcated parent 8rouP.

The Mlke Tovell Training Centre. established in 2020, continued to be developed and
Improved throu8h donations and voluntary work. The Trustees express their Sincere
gratitude to zhe team of staff and volunteers who have contributed to the wofk on the
Site.
Rowin8 Pertorrnance
The year to 31 August 2023 was a year of great succes for the club across all a8es and
abilities. This was a reflection of the dedication of the whole cluD throughout the lasi few
years, and is ongoing.
The Club's mernbership was stron& V4ith approximately 100 active rnembers, and racin8
performance was excellent. not least amon8St the senior members. whose early rowin
experience had been severely impacted by tr)e pandemic.
At the Internatlonal level. the Club'$ 5tren8th in depth showed with ten athletes gaining
international represenratin. and winning six medals. Results included two 116 rowers who
secured three 8old medals belmeen them at the Home International Regatta In If eland.
and one senior athlete won two sllver medals for Great Britain at the Coupe de I
Jeunesse In Amsterdam. One rower secured a place In the Great britain Quad for the U19
World Rowing Championships and won a sllver medal.
Th55 year's experience at Henley was challengsng in the wake of the unprecedented
success last year where the Fawley Cup final wa5 contested between the Club's A and
quads. Thls year. the Quad made major progress in the later sta8es of the winter and
qualified for the semi-fina15 Wlthout incldent. The semi-final against Leander and wlth
tough draw In a fast flowing river saw the Quad lose out by three leei, a liny margin, in a
race that would have made a classlc final. Plaudits came in from all sides and the crew
took much credit for an excellent racin8 performance.

Nationally, the Club again achieved outstanding success a8ain; at the National Schools
Regatta. rhe Club was the hl8hest performin8 learn with ten medals in total including six
golds. In the British Junior Rowin8 Champlonships. the Club won eight medals including
four golds and the Victor Ludorum.
The Club has led the devleopment of the rowlng pro8ramme at the Wndsor Glrls School
which developed well this year with a dedicated coach and fepresentation at the
National Schools and 8ritbSh Junior Rowsn8 Championships.
Flnance
The accounts are prepared on a cash basis with receipts and paymenis being recognized
at the time of the transaction. Any Signlficant assets or liabiliiSes not recorded are
disclosed In the Notes to the Accounts.
Flnancial controlls exercised primarily through the preparation of an anT)ual budget and
Ihe reportin8 of results against that budget on a monthly basis. The Trustees
acknowledge that the Club's cash flow is somewhat uneven throughout a year and take
this into account when considering financial marters, A Finance Manual is maintained,
whlch contalns key finanoal procedures and controls of the Club.
Durln8 the perlod, the Club operated a small deficlt in ihe period, largely due to caplial
spend on the Mike Tovell Trainin8 Centre, usln8 funds raised In prevlous years. The
closin8 cash balance of £100,03612022'. £42,947) contalned £82.86012022: £26,61)01
from grants and donations foi 5peclfic types of expendlture. being items of equipment
and site developmeni and purchase. The available, unrestricted funds are £17,17612022..
£16,347). The Trustees considei this to be a 5015d position. and conrinue to rely on
fvndraisin8 activities by the pafental supporr group to maintain the current level of
operatlons of the Club.
