The main activities undertaken this year in keeping with our objective of the relief of child poverty of street children in Nigeria include the running of a reception centre and the boys residential home. In making decisions about how best to use the funds raised, the trustees paid due regard to the charity commission's public benefit guidance when exercising powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant.

Section D Achievements and performance

A total of £41902 was raised this year by CLL, UK. Summary of the main achievements of the charity Kinderposteigels donated £40810.74 as part of the legacy from Woltera during the year Den Tex. £64 was raised from donations generated on AmazonSmile, £600 from regular direct debit donations, £127 from donations made directly through the CLL website and the remaining £300 from individual donations (direct bank transfers and cheques). 2020 was a difficult year for everybody. CLL nevertheless was able to accomplish important milestones: we have virtually completed construction of our new vocational training centre at Ibeshe, Ikorodu and, with sponsorship from the Consortium for Street Children/Red Nose Day USA, we embarked upon the first phase of our back-to-school project in Oworonshoki which targets getting 100 out-of-school children into school over a 3 year period. Forty children have been identified so far.

We provided feeding support for vulnerable children during the lockdown in Lagos and, thanks to generous donors who responded to our appeal, we were able to arrange surgery to save the sight of a young girl from an indigent family. We re-housed two children and their disabled father who had been sleeping in an abandoned vehicle and are placing the children in school. Those children we are already supporting in school are all doing well, and in October 2020 we had 6 young people being supported in higher education – university or polytechnic.
