The 13kn annual Penzan(* Literary Festwal, hekl from 2 to 6 Juty 2024. was ono
of the most $￿CeSS￿l the festival tegan in 2010.
Penzance Town Counal support￿1 Ihe 2024 LitFest with a £3.¢￿ grant. This.
together with other funding and iTrkind SUPF*rt enabled us to wnmit to a wid&
ranging prcgTaM￿, with 45 events offering our aUd￿nceS a blend of emwging
and wel￿knOWn authors, perfomHnces and a series of workshops.
author events in the evenings to allow access for those in fulktKne empknyment
or education. Both Ann Cleeves (of Vera, and 'Shetland' fame) and Louise
Doughty (￿t knuwn for Appletroe Y8￿ and Platfonn Nine) appeared as
evening headliners and were T￿rded ￿ a great tumout. In other evening
sessions: Jim cauS￿y. Miranda Sykes and John Palmer entertained a full
house wfrth songs and tales of ghosts. w8rvwofves and county folk.. we aL80
featured a reading wrth the Penzancethbas8d F*Xt Katrina Naomi and a sessh)n
on the history of cartrmiing wth Hary Venning. before finishing on a hwJh note
with the ever-popular Great Bh3 LrtFest Quiz.
We also expand￿ our creative writing workshop prr4ramme to run over fve
days (rather than fr￿r as prevA?usty) with our &se5sMJn 'LrtFest GuKle to Novel
Writing. proviryJ extre￿ popular. All our *rykshops sold whth was a
first.
