Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
To advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others association with the school; engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
All activities throughout the year were planned with the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit in mind and in line with our objectives.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Each year the PTA runs a wide range of events both to raise funds towards the school’s Wish List and to provide social opportunities for the pupils, parents, staff, governors and wider school community. These include regular annual events such as our Winter Fair, bake sales, quiz nights, movie nights and a Sponsored Walk, as well as stalls at local community events such as the Richmond May Fair and St Margaret’s Fair. The committee also welcomes suggestions from the membership and organises one-off innovative fundraising initiatives. All activities are planned by the committee, drawing on volunteers from the parent membership, school staff and wider community of supporters as appropriate, having regard to safeguarding and risk assessments. The committee thanks all involved for their time, expertise and monetary donations, without which the PTA would be unable to satisfy its goals. The committee works closely with the school’s leadership team to fulfil the school’s Wish List of items to enrich the children’s education. School budgets are severely limited and without the PTA’s fundraising activities, many resources and facilities would be unavailable to pupils. During this school year, funded events included author and drama group visits and whole school music events as well as subsidising class trips.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
This year was extra special as DPS celebrated its 10th anniversary. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come — from our portacabin days to now being lovingly known as “the school above Lidl.” Not only was this the school’s 10th anniversary, but it was also one of our most successful years yet. A lot of our much-loved events returned alongside some new initiatives - all of which brought our community together and helped raise valuable funds for the school.
We began the year with our third time taking part in The Great River Race, followed by the DEI Welcome Lunch. Both of these events set the tone for the year ahead. It offers new parents a warm welcome, it showcases the wide variety of the events we run, and highlights the diversity and inclusivity that make our school community so unique. Leading up to Christmas, we packed the calendar with family favourites — kids’ movie nights, the Adults’ Quiz Night, a brand-new creative Wreath Making evening — and ended the term on a high with the everpopular Winter Fair.
2025 kicked off with our usual bake sales and movie nights. We held our first second-hand toy sale in collaboration with the Inclusion Committee and a fantastic new addition: Old School Games Night, which was a hit with parents and teachers alike.
Our final term of 2025, as always, was the busiest. The school proudly took part in both the Richmond May Fair and the St Margaret’s Fair. These external events are a vital way of keeping DPS connected to the wider community.
Our sporting families also enjoyed the annual Netball Tournament — a friendly but competitive match between year groups and teachers. As well as raising funds, it was a brilliant way to show that parent involvement doesn’t always have to mean baking a cake. The kids love seeing their parents getting involved on the court and we get to show our kids the fun side of teamwork and community spirit. We also hold an annual Football Tournament, and while scheduling meant we couldn’t fit it in before summer, we’re hoping to bring it back before this half term. To celebrate 10 years of the school & all our hard work, we threw our very first Summer Ball — a true highlight of the anniversary year. It was wonderful to see parents (old, new, and current), teachers, and extended staff letting loose and enjoying good food, a few drinks, and a boogie on the dance floor.
And finally, regardless of the weather, we got our sun hats and sunscreen on for the annual PTA Sponsored Walk. It continues to be a much-loved tradition, a highlight for many, and one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.
n top of all this, during the school year we also raise money by: -
-
selling uniform,
-
second hand books sales,
-
coat swaps,
-
After school crafting sessions,
-
DPS ‘200 Club’ Lottery,
-
Easy Fundraising
-
Matched Giving

Section E Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
The trustees do not have a formally agreed reserves policy but make prudent decisions based on the economic climate. Due to the procurement rules within the school’s academy trust, funds are often earmarked for funding requests well ahead of being invoiced to the PTA, necessitating the holding of earmarked funds in the charity bank account. The committee regularly reviews earmarked funds ringfenced in labelled “spending pots” and follows up with the school to ensure funds are appropriated as soon as practicable.
As at the end of the academic year, the balance at bank was £27,917.55 with all funds allocated to dedicated “spending pots” or as contingency cash for the need of the school
Details of any funds materially in deficit
